I'm in Luxembourg today and popped into the Leica dealer to check availability and report back to the collective (I already have an M10 so thought this could help others). They had a bunch of cameras for announcement day, and have 2 more in stock now which are reserved. No news about additional stock arrival.

I suspect Leica are massively pleased with the M10. I know how frustrating it can be when waiting for your camera to arrive, but arrive it will.

I would like to travel to London and Paris this May with the M10. If I could receive mine 1-2 weeks peior so I can test it out before leaving I would be good with that. Maybe I will get lucky. It will be my first digital Leica and I am just excited to pick up a digital Leica rangefinder.

Otherwise, I will be taking my Sony a7Rii and 21/35/50 Loxia lenses.

If I'm not mistaken Leica did build a significantly larger production facility relatively recently and production is significantly higher than it was with the M9. They manage to produce a very large number of hand built cameras to a very high standard. In fact I was speaking with the head of Leica technical service in the US this year and I asked how many M10's have come back within the US so far for either rangefinder calibration issues or otherwise. The answer was 0, which he said would not at all have been the case when the M9 was released when a non-trivial number required rangefinder calibration.

All of which is to say, this is not a mass produced item and i don't think Leica would in anyway be apologetic for that fact. The simply do their best and can't do more.

Fine. I have no issue with this. In this case, make a tonne of them THEN announce a pre-order programme which works via a non-refundable deposit with a rough 'due date' and then send out the cameras when there is a semi-decent stockpile.

Of course it won't.

If these cameras are all hand made. They are all tracked through the production process.

If they can't mass produce them to the amount needed then they can track them more effectively

Either they can do this and just can't be bothered or as long as the 'celebrity' shill brigade have their cameras the rest of us fan boys and girls are happy to just apologise for Leica.

He said black. You may want to state a time zone.

Same here. I would like to travel to Tokyo and Seoul mid-May with my M10 (B&H preorder on Feb 8th...). It will be my first M. I'm really hoping to get one before May!

Interesting to see so many new M owners coming aboard...just curious, why the new M10?

I was contemplating the Hasselblad X1D. It became obvious Hasselblad had underlying issues that made me very uncomfortable buying into that eco system. I noticed this last year around September I believe. At the same time, I was looking back at film. I really wanted to pick up a 501CW medium format but I decided that I wanted to stick with 35mm. It makes more sense for me.

I shoot Canon for sports and Sony for everything else. I also had two film bodies but I noticed I didn't have a rangefinder. I purchased an M6 and fell in love. I also love the size and performance of the Leica lenses on my M6.

When the M10 was announced I decided why not go for it? While I enjoy using the Sony bodies, focus magnification (Loxia lenses) is awesome, the Leica really does seem to give a different type of experience for me. I'll go back and forth I'm sure but for now, I want to experience the rangefinder experience. It is just so different than what I am use too.

I know this sounds a bit silly but that is how I got here. I also wanted a really good reason to purchase some Leica glass. It was a toss up between modifying the sensor stack on one of my a7 bodies or just using a Leica body. The M10 seem to be good enough quality wise compared against my a7 to go ahead and give it a go.

If I am fortunate enough to receive my M10 and take it to London, I may pack my a6000 or a7 just in case. But that is really not my style. I like to go all in.

I'm going to Italy in May and keeping my fingers crossed I'll get my M10 in time. Otherwise. I'll also be taking a Sony A7RII. My kit will include a Mitakon 50mm f/0.95 and a Sony Zeiss 35mm. I like the Sony very much, but it'll be a bigger and heavier bag to lug halfway around the world.

After I've been using my Leica Q for more than a year, I naturally became interested in M.

Q was nearly a perfect camera to use in quiet society Japan. With Q in my small briefcase, I could bring it to anywhere from a business office to a temple and capture precious moments. Now, I just want to carry M all the time and try 35-50mm lens!
