Rambot-M Posted March 15, 2017 Share #562 Posted March 15, 2017 I'll second that! Did you get your camera? I think you were third in line @ Leica LV when you last replied.
Jager Posted March 15, 2017 Share #563 Posted March 15, 2017 With a new M10 in hand following a 6 week wait from date of order, I'm glad I chose The Leica Store in Washington DC. Maybe those Leica boutique stores do have some priority in getting shipments over the giant chains like B&H. I expect the various Leica Stores do get more units-per-store than do independent dealers. But I also suspect they get far more orders. An even better reason to deal with the Leica Stores is because they are staffed by good people who care about photography a whole lot more than they care about selling cameras. And, yeah, the Leica Store DC folks are a super nice crew...
LeicaGuy2014 Posted March 15, 2017 Share #564 Posted March 15, 2017 No, I wasn't at LV. But I got frustrated and cancelled my order for a black at BH
Rambot-M Posted March 16, 2017 Share #565 Posted March 16, 2017 I was referring to another user M10shooting. My apologies. No, I wasn't at LV. But I got frustrated and cancelled my order for a black at BH Hey M10shooting, did you get your camera from Leica LV? Update from Leica Ls Vegas I'm now third on the list for a black chrome. Dealer said I should have it within three weeks.
Jonhnorris Posted March 16, 2017 Share #566 Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) Nice! I signed up for a silver on janurary 27th from the Leica store DC. Do you remember Stone Brigade what date you signed up for the waiting list? And did you go silver or black? Jager Posted March 16, 2017 Share #568 Posted March 16, 2017 Really? I find the smaller dealers more passionate about photography. Sadly, nearly all the local dealers here in the DC area are long gone. Back in the day, like most large metropolitan areas I suppose, there was quite a mix of camera shops. Everything from the consumer-oriented chains like Ritz, to the more-knowledgeable chains like Penn, to the one-off shops... many well-appointed and with deeply knowledgeable staff. Alas, even in their Heyday the one thing all those shops had in common was their interest in stuff. In gear. In the technical aspects. In all the countless visits I made to those stores over the years, I don't recall ever having a conversation about art. Not once did we ever together examine a photograph and passionately critique its merits. Never once did they hold an exhibition, or conduct a slide show, or show a movie, or have a field trip to the National Gallery of Art, or organize a street-shooting party. Around here, while you're waiting for your M10, you can go to Ace Photo in Sterling - a fine shop - and talk about cameras. Or you can go the Leica Store DC... and talk about photography. YMMV, of course.
mmelton1 Posted March 16, 2017 Share #569 Posted March 16, 2017 after to speaking to the leica store in LA...i was told that the waitlists are essentially - meaningless...guy told me that people will go around and sign up on every list they can find...he said the drop rate is incredible - he said there were about 100 people ahead of me...but that could mean anything...he said if ALL the leica dealers shared their lists...you'd see the bulk of them are all the same with some new ones added in...interesting... I expect there is some truth to this, but that it is mostly an exaggeration. Certainly some people get on more than one list, but I highly doubt most people get on every available list.
Stonewall Brigade Posted March 16, 2017 Share #571 Posted March 16, 2017 Nice! I signed up for a silver on janurary 27th from the Leica store DC. Do you remember Stone Brigade what date you signed up for the waiting list? And did you go silver or black? Signed up around the first of February for a black M10 and waited around 6 weeks when I got delivery.
FrozenInTime Posted March 17, 2017 Share #572 Posted March 17, 2017 28th January Leica-store San Francisco .... still waiting ; will pass by and see what how the line is progressing.
vantheo Posted March 17, 2017 Share #573 Posted March 17, 2017 I just spoke with an Adorama Customer Service rep about my order for a black M10, which I placed on Jan. 19th. She wasn't very helpful. She had no estimate for a shipping date. She also couldn't tell me if Adorama had received any M10s at all since my order. She couldn't even tell me how many people were ahead of me on the waiting list. The only thing she could tell me was that so far they had received a total of 42 orders for the black M10. If I had to guess, I'd say there are probably around a dozen people ahead of me on their waiting list. But that's only a guess. When did you order? I also ordered black one from Adorama, guess I am at around 40th, cuz I ordered early Feb.

KenTanaka Posted March 17, 2017 Share #576 Posted March 17, 2017 Just to add a bit of information to this thread... I ordered a silver M10 from the Leica Store in Miami in January. At this writing they've only gotten a "handful" of cameras in February and none so far in March. They would not tell me my position in their list but said that at this rate it would take "months" to provide me with a camera. After so many years buying these quaint-but-unneeded cameras, I have to say I'm getting crabby with Leica. They're really not a very good outfit for all their boastfulness. The dealers must be frustrated, too. They can't earn from what they can't sell.
Nordvik Posted March 17, 2017 Share #577 Posted March 17, 2017 I called the importer in Norway and they said I had to wait until summer if I ordered now. They also said that there were only one demo M10 outside the capital (I had visited the "local" dealer and they had none, and that is why I called the importer). I think it was reported that at the end of M9 production they were making 80 cameras a day. Leica is a very small (camera)company. I think they self said they had a 0,1% marked share and wanted to expand that to 1%.
CJJon Posted March 18, 2017 Share #578 Posted March 18, 2017 It is ridiculous that I ordered on Jan 19 and still no camera. I even went with the silver version as I was told I would get one even sooner. Supposed to be the first in line for silver. Leica should be damned embarrassed.
ShaunD Posted March 18, 2017 Share #579 Posted March 18, 2017 There appears to be a growing degree of dissatisfaction at how Leica are managing the distribution of the new M10. I called the importer in Norway and they said I had to wait until summer if I ordered now. They also said that there were only one demo M10 outside the capital (I had visited the "local" dealer and they had none, and that is why I called the importer).I think it was reported that at the end of M9 production they were making 80 cameras a day. Leica is a very small (camera)company. I think they self said they had a 0,1% marked share and wanted to expand that to 1%. Leica is not such a small company they may like us to think they are small and friendly but annual sales are out there in the public domain as €365million so I think they can make more than 80 cameras a day. It is ridiculous that I ordered on Jan 19 and still no camera. I even went with the silver version as I was told I would get one even sooner. Supposed to be the first in line for silver. Leica should be damned embarrassed. I ordered a black model on the 19th January from a UK Leica dealer and have not received mine yet in fact I understand from my dealer they have only received 2 units in 2 months for customers which is pretty poor. I wonder if it is possible that Leica have encountered some manufacturing problems or they are limiting the units being issued as they have found a latent defect in the product??? Probably a conspiracy theory but with a vacuum of information what are we customers supposed to think.
Eoin Posted March 18, 2017 Share #580 Posted March 18, 2017 When I ordered mine in February, I was told they (the dealer) were not expecting deliveries before end of March. Apparently Leica's release to smaller dealers begins around this time. They said while Leica stores may be getting deliveries since release, the dealerships are further down the pecking order. Given my place on the list (4th) I was told possibly end of April or early May for my Camera. I am free to source one elsewhere with my small deposit fully refundable should I manage to find one. So I have resigned myself to that timeframe, I see little point in frustrating myself searching out other sources and by the time May comes around should my dealer not have one for me, I suspect there may be some more readily available across Europe. First World problems, "I want it and I want it now!", peoples sense of entitlement seems to ignore the fact that it is newly released model of a niche product, which has a World wide presence in branded Leica Stores. Naturally it takes time for supply and demand to find some equilibrium, in the mean time use whatever photographic tools you already have, take a chill pill, your day will come.
