The thing that really gets me is the lack of people on this forum not reporting they are receiving shipping confirmations. I know we are a small slice of the Leica M10 preorder population but come on...

I'd say we are a pretty good cross section. Some people pre ordered before they even knew the name of the camera and some up to 2 weeks after or more. May only be a few of us but I'd recon it's a good spread.

Ordered Jan. 20 through local Englewood Camera (and secondary call to my Leica rep). Silver chrome. Currently #3 on the list for silver for the region, and we're getting just 2 silver in Feb. - so expecting mine sometime in March.

I wonder what makes B&H reps to treat me so differently as opposed to other ones who gets all the answers they wish... when they ask their numbers on the queue (for it is just a big NO: "proprietary info!") or exact dates of shipment ( for me it is just "no specific ETA for M10 orders arrival in our DB!" )....????

I pre-ordered with B&H on Jan. 29th and was told at that time the M10 would arrive at B&H by Feb. 4th and be shipped to my home by Feb. 10.  I believed them.  On Feb. 3rd I called B&H and was told the first "large shipment" would arrive at their New York warehouse on Feb. 6th, with another shipment coming on Feb. 14th and 15th.   And I believed them.  Today B&H says "they don't know" the date.  I also notice the B&H web site changed from describing the M10 as "New Item-Coming Soon", to "Back Order-Not Available".  Then I called the Leica Store in Washington DC and Miami, and Tamarkin in Chicago, and they all say "several months".

Several months if ordered today I assume?

I was told that the main UK store were getting about 10 reservations an hour!

It seems that most of these distributors are beholden to shipment data from Leica. So, they *may* have been told such (and then subsequently conveyed said information to you) or it may have been simple speculation on their part. Either way, you'll know when you'll be getting your camera once you get your shipment confirmation. My guess is March for the "early" pre-orders.

Just FWIW - I got my M8 and M9 fairly fast (6 weeks for the M8 and a week for the M9, post-announcement).

But - for the M8, I ordered on the day of announcement, requested (like Peter H.) "whatever color is available first" - and ultimately had to call in a favor from my rep once the M8 was recalled in the first month for sensor/electronics glitches. She got one for me by calling in favors with Leica NJ, more or less swiping one off the shipping pallet of recalled cameras being sent back to Germany for refit. ;) I had to swear not to demand special warranty service later for the existing problems - got "normal" free warranty fixes once I had a second body, 4 months later.

For the M9, I "ordered" two weeks before announcement (based on credible rumor, leaked specs and the projected 09/09/09 release date) - "Whatever it is, whatever the price, I want one," is what I told the regional rep. So once it was announced and she could start an official wait-list, I was at the top.

I ordered my lenses early so that I could test the camera out.. but since my M10 has not yet arrived, I have not got a chance to test my lenses yet.. hope i get it before the return period for lenses is exhausted.. [emoji58]

I ordered the M10 (silver) on January 20 from B&H.  I inquired on January 31 when I would get it...they responded that a shipment would be coming in the middle of the next week and then they would ship it to me.  But then on February 5, I inquired again when I would get it...now they only responded with "still out of stock".  No talk of shipments coming in...no hint of when I might get it.  I will let everyone know when I do get it, so you can track the timing delay from order date to receipt date, but it sounds like it's going to be quite a while yet.  But good things are worth waiting for, right?  :)

I ordered three lenses. 50 and 35 Summicron and the 28/2.8. All are being used on my M6. I have to say, the Summicron lenses are the perfect size. I wish the 50 had a tab on the focus ring.
