I then asked if they knew when the M10 would be available and if not to split that order and ship the remaining items on the order to me. The agent responded they expect the stock in tomorrow, February 6. I left my order alone. :-) Well there will be a lot of happy M snappers in NY this week if this is true. edw Posted February 5, 2017 Share #183 Posted February 5, 2017 So far the best result I have gotten on a pre-order list is Leica Store Las Vegas I'm number 8 for the black chrome and I placed my reservation today. Side note have any of you had luck finding a Leica 28mm Summaron F5.6 in stock? I've been next in line for a Summaron 28mm at Leica Soho NYC since late November. If it has to be a nonrefundable deposit that it would be far less abusive to say that we will take your deposit and for so long as we hold it and you don't have a camera, we will pay you interest on the deposit which will be paid by way of an appropriate reduction in the price of the camera . That way if you like, everyone's requirements have been met and all the outcomes that you have outlined in your post have been satisfied . What sort of interest are you getting these days? Goldman Sachs makes a big deal about offering 1.05% APY on a savings account. If you wait six months, boom, you've forgone about $10 in interest. Hardly worth bothering with. As someone else said, the real opportunity to get screwed is if/when the dealer goes out of business or some act of God or other issue prevents the dealer from getting inventory and isn't obligated to return your deposit. A substantial, refundable deposit using a legit escrow account seems to be the reasonable, non sleazy way to implement this. (Good luck getting a dealer to agree to the escrow account though.) Every time I inquire on the status of my order (paypal'd them on Jan 18) I get different information. Last Friday it was "stock due from Leica on Feb 13". Today I call and I find out I am top of the list (they usually never give that information), and there is a small shipment expected tomorrow- but they don't have tracking information posted from Leica, so he was pretty doubtful it was true. But for all items which are usually in stock in the shop I find them quite off in this day and age. And even more, I hate it, when dealers invent stories to justify their position. Their customer service has deteriorated terribly. Just getting someone on the phone can take 15 minutes in today's world. Much better off purchasing from one of the many fine independent camera stores (probably more in UK than US true) or one of the Leica boutiques in the US. You are likely to get your camera much faster and with much better transparency and continuity. I can't stand that every time you speak with someone at B&H you get someone different, and never someone that actually knows anything about the equipment you are seeking to purchase. We will contact the manufacturer for an update of when we expect to have this item in stock. As soon as we receive a response from them, typically within 2-3 days, we will forward this information to you via email. To recap, this is after they had sent me the following messages last week: Sent on January 30th: Please be advised that your backorder is estimated to arrive at our warehouse by 2/2/17. As soon as we receive it in stock we will ship your order to you, and e-mail you with the tracking information. Sent on January 31st, in response to question about whether or not I could expect to have my order fulfilled on 2/2 based on my preorder date: Please be advised that your backorder is estimated to arrive at our warehouse by 02-06-17. As soon as we receive it in stock we will ship your order to you, and e-mail you with the tracking information.
