Mark Pope Posted January 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) After some agonising, I decided to pull the trigger on an ex-demo Monochrome 246 I'm quite excited! I should have it by next weekend. Time to download the manual and have a read while I finish my coffee...

mmx_2 Posted January 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2017 Way to go! And congratulations on your new gem:). I bought mine in April 2015 and I'm very pleased!!
Mr Fjeld Posted January 14, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2017 Good decision! I did the same in July last year. Haven't had this much fun since using my Nikkormat FTN in the eighties.

david strachan Posted March 2, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2017 Goodonya Mark. Any new camera is exciting; but this is still a Leica. I always love the rush of a new camera or a lens, even 40 years on... all best..
dkmoore Posted March 4, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 4, 2017 The camera is addicting. I have the M10 and I still want to use the M246 more. I am liberated by B&W and the camera is a delight to use. The only real difference is size and I like the size of the M246 better. For B&W only I wouldn't hesitate to buy and love the 246 without thinking twice about an M10 Monochrom.
Mark Pope Posted March 4, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted March 4, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement. The MM246 is fabulous and I have been surprised at how easy it is to make a good quality print with just a few tweaks in Lightroom. During the week's wait for the MM246 to arrive, I did suffer quite a bit of buyer's remorse, but that soon disappeared when I looked at the first files. It's going to be a long term love affair I think...
Herr Barnack Posted March 4, 2017 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Congratulations, Mark! You have chosen wisely IMO. The MM246 is the next M camera I am going to acquire. The M10 is interesting, but I would still take the MM246 over it. Edited March 4, 2017 by Carlos Danger
Luke_Miller Posted March 4, 2017 Share #9 Posted March 4, 2017 Thanks everyone for your kind words of encouragement. The MM246 is fabulous and I have been surprised at how easy it is to make a good quality print with just a few tweaks in Lightroom. Since the Nik Collection is now a free download you might consider Silver Efex Pro 2 for processing your Monochrom images. It plays nicely with Lightroom and provides many more tools for getting the best from the files.
