The view through older Glass

My very first shot with an intriguing, century-old one. Labeled “J.H. Dallmeyer (in beautiful cursive characters) London”. Most likely a “Kinematograph” lens, although not marked as such. The lens easily covers FF and is probably a 4e/3g Petzval optical formula, which would explain its centre sharpness and blurry/swirly edges at wider apertures (focus-and-recompose is not an option here – clearly not an everyday carry…). Other than its focal length and max. aperture, it has nothing to do, even remotely, with the later Septac.

Eynsford is, unquestionably, a charming little hamlet which has been inhabited by a few rather interesting characters in its history;

Philip.

EDIT : Sharp-eyed viewers will have noticed that the triangular 'warning' road-sign just to the right-of-centre exhorts motorists who have availed themselves of the Ford to "Try Your Brakes"......😺......

* In actual fact I suspect that it was only 16:51 as, on returning from France, I have not yet re-set the Monochrom's clock.
