wizard Posted November 28, 2022 Share #10004 Posted November 28, 2022 vor 12 Stunden schrieb Ecar: Same camera and lens as above This nice landscape shot, when viewed at full resolution, clearly shows the limits of many such older lenses. Nothing is really tack sharp, not even in the center, and it gets worse towards the edges. This lens comes from a time where prints were usually quite small, thus masking the lens' lack of performance. Color rendition is very pleasing though. UliWer Posted November 28, 2022 Share #10005 Posted November 28, 2022 (edited) You don't use this "old glass" for tack sharpness, do you? I liked the photo as it showed water pouring down and not the usual cliché "frozen" by longtime exposure. The resolution of this lens is not great, even by 1950's standards. And it's low contrast. But the tonal range is quite broad - this is, inter alia, why the colours are pleasing. I use ASPH/APO lenses when I want "tack sharp". This being said, you'd be surprised at how well these low-res / low-contrast shots print up to A3+, as long as you view them from a "normal" distance. 2 hours ago, UliWer said: You don't use this "old glass" for tack sharpness, do you? FWIW, it's unlikely you'll see long exposures from me: I'm too impatient for taking anything but handheld pictures and, although I own a couple of tripods, they mostly collect dust.🙄😉 Now, here's another one from the same location, also with the 1953 SOM Berthiot Anastigmat 50/2.8 LTM on the M10P ASC: Welcome, dear visitor!
