philipus Posted September 5, 2012 Share #41 Posted September 5, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm very happy to see this thread's taking off Great photos and very interesting discussion. Following my query about the size of the Nikkor 8,5/2 vs the 1.5 version, I thought I'd post a size comparison of a few lenses, just for fun (slightly off topic but I hope you'll allow it). The 8,5/2 isn't much taller or wider than a 50 Summilux, though it weighs a bit more and also has the weight distributed a bit differently, more to the front. 135/3.5 Canon Summitar 10-blade 9cm Elmar 8,5cm f2 Nikkor-P.C 50 Summilux Asph 90 Elmarit-M 35 Summilux 35 Asph II 50 f1.4 Canon EF Welcome, dear visitor! philipus Posted September 5, 2012 Share #42 Posted September 5, 2012 I agree with Robert; incredibly nice shots, Dirk. Here's again the Nikkor 8.5/2 on Ektar at about f2. Welcome, dear visitor! COOP666 Posted September 6, 2012 Share #45 Posted September 6, 2012 A few more, same lens. My 35mm seems to be the one I use the most - it's the sweet spot, not too wide, not too long. menos I M6 Posted September 6, 2012 Share #46 Posted September 6, 2012 Dirk, please post some average images so that I don't feel quite so envious. Seriously good stuff as always ! Damn it, I've been resisting a noctilux f1 and then this thread springs up... Haha - thanks Robert - the last shots were done with the rare Nikkor 85/1.5 though, but just for you, I'll post one more, taken with the Noctilux: portrait - JC - gorgeous by teknopunk.com, on Flickr The 8,5/2 isn't much taller or wider than a 50 Summilux, though it weighs a bit more and also has the weight distributed a bit differently, more to the front. The 85/1.5 indeed is a lot larger, than the 85/2 - it looks about similarly sized, as a 75 Summilux v1. I am now seriously looking for the original bayonet lens hood (pricey ?) for the 85/1.5 Nikkor, which is veeery hard to come by. I agree with Robert; incredibly nice shots, Dirk. Here's again the Nikkor 8.5/2 on Ektar at about f2. Thanks, and nice this Nikkor 85/2 - the background looks very, very similar to the 85/1.5, which I love it for! Yes, fabulous thread here and a GAS activator too... Dirk, that set is outstanding, really nice work there ! Noctilux 1.0 prices ain't gonna fade... My humble contribution with a Canon LTM 50 1.2 on the M8: Cheers Jean-Marc. Thanks Jean-Marc! I love that look of the 50/1.2 Canon in your shot - it looks a lot like the Canon 0.95 - very similar imaging (next time around, I will have my 0.95 ready hopefully, to do some fun stuff and plan also, to play some with vintage glass, once the safety shots are in the bag. philipus Posted September 6, 2012 Share #48 Posted September 6, 2012 The 85/1.5 indeed is a lot larger, than the 85/2 - it looks about similarly sized, as a 75 Summilux v1. I am now seriously looking for the original bayonet lens hood (pricey ?) for the 85/1.5 Nikkor, which is veeery hard to come by. Hmm that hood seems difficult to find. I found an ebay store that sells lots of Nikon hoods but none currently for the 85/1.5. Perhaps you could register your interest there though. Speaking of the 75mm focal length, which I also like. Apart from the Leica lenses, is the Biotar 75/1.5 the only other option for a very fast (sub f2) 75mm lens?

menos I M6 Posted September 7, 2012 Share #50 Posted September 7, 2012 Thanks for the tip Philip - that seller has all the nice candy, but prices are expeeeeeensive. A 75/1.5 Biotar would be tasty for trying - I believe a friend had one, but I had no interest in old lenses back then (how could I know …). Chris - that car project sounds wild!

menos I M6 Posted September 7, 2012 Share #53 Posted September 7, 2012 @remik - these are the B&W tones from those old lenses, I just love! @JeffoJeffo - now that is very low contrast indeed - I think, this lens would look beautiful in a shot with dark surroundings and foliage in the back, creating some swirly runnel view.
