You digital mavens, bless you, will never understand the aesthetic of early lenses with early film. It is good you to try, but given the character of  digital tech you never will see nor understand.

1. a picture taken with an old lens thereby fulfilling the aims of the gallery space

You digital mavens, bless you, will never understand the aesthetic of early lenses with early film. It is good you to try, but given the character of  digital tech you never will see nor understand.

2. a deduction, referring to 1, but extrapolating so much it’s not at all connected

Sure thing, thanks for a good laugh !

3. a good natured acceptance of the debilitating affects of aging

Explain the punch line. You clearly do not understand.

4. there is no punchline; there was no joke but there is now. Black kettles and pans.

I have explained several times how the lack of an anti-halation layer in early film, and in some current films, contributes the so-called Leica Glow. You understand that or you do not.

Fine.

But it seems to me that the purpose of this thread is simply to show images taken by old lenses on a given camera - whether film or digital - not to demonstrate their ability to produce glow or any other characteristic, or to make a particular point. As such, it can be fairly informative IMHO for those trying to understand the results from a particular lens/camera combination.

Whilst many of the pictures shown here are really good, no one is asking for approval, comments or criticism either - the Photo Forum seems more appropriate for that.

Also, I don't think anyone here interested in rehashing the old 'film vs. digital' debate...
