I will miss his wonderful articles in the Viewfinder, publication of the International Leica Society based in the USA. He always, richly with photos from film, laced his articles with excellent prose. He covered all lens and cameras but mostly Leica and Nikon gear. He must have over one hundred thirty five millimeter lens alone. He also covered the Voigtländer lens as new ones came out. I especially enjoyed his factory visits to Coseina in Japan. What a loss to all of us in the Leica community. I never met him felt that I knew him from his many contributions to the Viewfinder!

This is terribly sad and unexpected news. I never met Tom but his posts over on RRF were a place I turned to for years, enjoying his gentle and gentlemanly contributions to rangefinder discussion. My deepest sympathy to his family, friends and loved ones.

I am sad that he is gone. I saw the news over at RFF a few days ago and couldn't believe it. Over the years I have gained heaps of knowledge from his helpful, courteous and often witty posts at RFF as well as his articles in the Viewfinder which I always looked forward to. The world of Leica and the analogue community has lost an important and inspiring person.

I am guessing that Tom had no foreshadowing of his demise. May we all be so blessed.

He was apparently considering making a few more M2 Rapidwinders. Always working.

To Tuulikki for being his lifelong companion. What can we do for her?

Just saw this thread and just learned of Toms passing.  He was a truly brilliant and kind man.  I met him on a few occasions and he was always more than patient and helpful with me and my newbie questions.  My condolences to his family. He will be missed by many...
