I was able to get pairing with my Leica T and my iPhone SE when I had Leica T update version 1.5. I have now updated my Leica T to version 1.6 and no longer get a pairing. ˇhe camera recognizes the iPhone, but the Leica T app does not recognize the camera

even though the app correctly states the Leica SSID number. Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so how do I solve it?

Same here!

Before, as I only had MF lenses, I could connect T with my IPhone with firmware 1.5, but my IPhone had black screen and I could not see what I was photographing!

Now, I have a T native lens and firmware 1.6, but I have the same problem as yours. The camera recognize the phone, but the phone cannot connect to the camera!... I deleted the app and got a new one; but no chance!...

Leica completely missed the WiFi feature with T. I wish they had more classes with Panasonic!...

Thanks.  Good to know I wasn't the only one. I'll see if I can find a complaint link with Leica to let them know, as if they don't know already.

Cheers.

P.S. I sent the following er-mail text to both customer support and software support. I'll add another post if I get an answer.

Text of e-mail to Leica:

Heading: Leica TL app problem with iPhone and my Leica T

"I was able to get pairing with my Leica T and my iPhone SE when I had Leica T update version 1.5. I have now updated my Leica T to version 1.6 and no longer get a pairing. I found out from the www.l-camera-forum.com that other owners have experienced the same problem.

Please advise what I should do, or alternatively what you are going to do...."

I give up!

I removed my TL app from my IPhone and got a new one. I reset as suggested.

I have a native lens on my T; T finds the router, but the IPhone can't find the camera!

Also, I tried with "Direct" connection; but nothing works!

It was so easy and fast with Panasonic/Leica 109!...

I just give up this feature with T!.... They really have to learn much more from Panasonic!...

Tried cache reset. Still nothing. Tried deleting and re-installing the Leica TL app. Still nothing. The camera recognizes the iPhone and says WiFi successfully connected, but the Leica app on the iPhone searches and reports No camera found.

Still waiting to hear from Leica tech support, et al.

Ok here are some details in case they help anyone:

1) I use iPhone with iOS version 10.2

2) Leica TL APP is the latest update and in the settings I have Mobile data to ON

3) The Leica T had firmware 1.6

Steps:

I start the Wifi on the camera. I click on WLAN ON and then use Direct then press OK

Then I choose APP Connection and press OK

Now the camera has started a WIFi network

I go to iPhone, Settings and choose the Leica network. When it connects it tells me to start the Leica TL app

NOW, I start the APP, it finds the camera and asks me to tap to connect, I do that and then the camera asks me to accept the connection which I do and then all is working well

Of course if this is the first time you connect to it you will have to give passwords etc

I tried with the EVF and without and it works with both,

BUT, I saw that it will not work if the APP was on and you tried to use it before you connected to the Leica camera network.

So follow the steps carefully, and only start the APP on the phone AFTER you connected to the Wifi network from the camera.

Let me know if this helps

Kostas, thanks very much for the instruction.

I have the latest IPhone  OS, the latest Leica TL app, and firmware 1.6. I am doing exactly the way you are suggesting, but the phone cannot find the camera!

With the previous app and firmware, the phone could find the camera, but I had black screen on the phone and could not see what to shoot!...

WIFI connection is not really very important for me and I may never use it; but it is very irritating to not have it working since this function is

supposed to be a part of T/TL!

This WIFI connection should not be such a problem for me and for some other T users! I really consider it as a failure from the Leica engineers!

Thanks again, my friend.

Ah, it is a pitty I could not help. What about the Leica Wifi network? Does your phone know it already? If yes go to the phone and ask it to forget it, in case that your phone has some old settings. Then try again.

The only other thing I can suggest is to reset the camera... :-(

I hadn’t tried the new TL app until I read this thread. So I had a go at connecting the app to the camera and failed just as some of you have. One thing I always do when the iPhone doesn’t work as expected is restart it. This I did and, hey presto, it connected and I was able to take photos remotely.

I use the direct connection method but one of the steps I find it easy to forget is Daedalus2000’s step number three: “I go to iPhone, Settings and choose the Leica network.” When you want to use the direct method of connecting, whatever network your iPhone is normally tuned to, it’s vital you let it find the wi-fi network produced by the camera and switch to that.

I hope those of you who haven’t yet managed to connect the phone and the camera will persevere, because it’s potentially a useful feature. When it works, it works quite well.

I had the opposite problem -  I could never get the T to communicate with the iPad or iPod with 1.5.  But s soon as I downloaded 1.6 and the new TL app I tried it with my Android phone and it  worked on my second attempt at a direct connection. It failed on the first attempt but then I remembered that the key was to make sure the phone was using the Leica WiFi not the router in my house. I didn't try using the router method because I did not think I would ever have a reason to use that.

Robert, fantastic!

Thank you so much for your instruction! For the first time since I have this camera, it finally worked! :D

Now, I can see through my phone and take pictured!

This is the second time you are helping me greatly; the first time was to make the magnifier work! :)

You are the best!

Thanks again, my friend; and also, thanks to you dear Kostas for your valuable suggestions.:)

Great news Louis. So what helped at the end? Was it a case of restarting the phone, or was it the connection to the Leica TL wifi network?

Thanks for your concerns, Kostas.

All my steps were right from the beginning and I was aware of connecting my phone to Leica WIFI. The thing that made it work was restarting my phone as Robert suggested. Then, everything went to "Normal"! :) ... So simple when you think about it!

Robert,

I just reopened this thread to check on recent responses. As you suggested, I rebooted my iPhone and, voila, it paired immediately. Many thanks to you for solving this cantankerous problem. Why Leica or Apple couldn't have put this very small addition to their instructions causes one to wonder.

For computer 'geeks' it may be obvious, but for aged husks like me it was a  revelation.

As the idiot that started this thread, it is perfectly alright if everyone wants to close it.  Many thanks for all of you great people that responded and to Robert a special thanks for revealing what was probably, to some, obvious. :)
