MarkP Posted December 26, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) Very nice! What camera body did you use? Good to to see an R-lens resurgence thread. I've only got the 50 Summicron-R v2 so am not fit to post here. Regards, Mark Edited December 26, 2016 by MarkP
dkCambridgeshire Posted December 26, 2016 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2016 The OP does not suggest the thread is only for the V1 types so maybe you should post your V II images. dunk
MarkP Posted December 26, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2016 Thanks Dunk, but I've got a Summicron, not a Summilux Regards, Mark

dkCambridgeshire Posted December 27, 2016 Share #9 Posted December 27, 2016 I'm thinking of buying a First gen A7 just for my Leica Summilux-R 1:1,4/80mm Should be a good combination; R lenses especially the longer focal lengths can produce fine images with Sony A series - provided you can focus OK . However, I could not get on with a Sony A7R (shutter vibration … colleague's A7 worked better ) so sold it and bought a s/h A7S … which promises to be superb for low light imaging now that I have the settings optimised. dunk
jip Posted December 27, 2016 Share #10 Posted December 27, 2016 I mostly use the Leica S now a days, but I miss the look of the R1.4/80mm so have been thinking of a 'cheap' solutions to be able to use the lens again. I still use it sometimes on my R8 with film.
TomB_tx Posted December 27, 2016 Share #11 Posted December 27, 2016 I bought a basic A7 body just for my old SLR lenses, and it does very well with the R lenses. They seem a bit big on the A7, but performance is good.

mark_pw Posted December 28, 2016 Author Share #13 Posted December 28, 2016 A few taken with the E60 version, wide open, on A7 20141005-_DSC6342.jpg 20141005-_DSC6332.jpg Very few lenses could achieve this with aperture wide open. Many give dreamy pictures. They have to step down for one or two clicks to give such a sharp photo.
younes Posted December 28, 2016 Share #14 Posted December 28, 2016 Indeed, and no sharpening nor clarity were added in Lightroom.
mark_pw Posted December 29, 2016 Author Share #15 Posted December 29, 2016 The large aperture gives it the advantage in night shooting.
