As illustrated online on the Leica website, the ISO dial is that similar to the M6 etc, however as I have seen on this forum and my very own MP, the iso dial only has the ISO numbers running up and along half the dial... is this dial I have an outdated design or is the dial shown online not updated to this current/new half dial design? Any information anyone can shed and clarify this for me would be appreciated. Thanks! My MP is the same, 6-6400 on half of the dial. It's not outdated. On this PDF it has the dial as you explain: https://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/Leica-MP/Downloads

Charadis Posted August 6, 2020 Share #4167 Posted August 6, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got mine today, manufacture sticker dated 2020/06/19. The dial on mine looks the same, only half printed: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I've been reading many complaints that the dial is like cheap plastic or something? Looking at it against the light, it looks more like metal to me. Doesn't feel very cheap, but this is the only film Leica I've ever handled/owned. Still, the way the disc reflects against light, it looks very metal to me. Matte black painted metal. Are the complaints referring to the plastic bezel around the disc? As for flaws, there is a "bubble" in the covering, left of the rewind lever. I was half-dreading to find bubbling on my as I've read on here stories about it, but mine has one...not sure if it is noticeable here. If I press it down, it sticks to the body, but pops back up. The other flaw I've found is a faint blemish to the left of the viewfinder window. It's more noticeable in certain angles against light, and invisible in other angles of light, but once you've noticed it....well, you've noticed it. Very noticeable here in this picture. Still a lovely camera, very beautiful...I'm very impressed with my first Leica film camera, and I'm already excited to take it outside and shoot some film (if only I had film..). I don't think I'll be returning it since I've already registered it to my Leica account and fitted it with a neck strap, but is there any advice on dealing with the couple flaws I've mentioned here? They aren't huge issues, but for $5k....I hope I'm not being too picky, you know.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I think I can see the small bubble beside the rewind lever but it looks pretty small. I also see the blemish beside the viewfinder window. It almost looks like a smudge of some kind in the photo, but I'm assuming it's not something easily wiped off or you would have done that. Is it a scuff or a scratch? I might mention it to your dealer and see what they think. If it really bothers you see if you can swap it for another camera. Otherwise, shoot some film and enjoy your new Leica!

Probably the most beautiful camera I've ever handled. The bubble is pretty small, maybe it will not get worse? I've thought about sending it in to change out the covering to leather at some point, so it's not really bothering me. The blemish doesn't seem like a scratch, it is more of a scuff. I've tried wiping it off, but no change. I'm just surprised to see that straight from factory. I suppose if I planned to resell at some point, it would matter a lot more to me. I guess I don't have to worry about getting that first scratch/blemish, like on a new car. 😭 I bought from Leica's US website, shipped from "LC, ONLINE STORE" Allendale, NJ. 11 hours ago, stewartweir said: Got mine today with the warranty card saying 26th June 2020. Serial on mine ends with 7908 - looks like at least 67 of these beauties were probably manufactured between the 19th and the 26th, assuming serials are sequential. Sales are low and Leica produces these cameras in batches. It's a small company: the last financial statements, for FY2018, apparently show total sales just below €300 million, with a decline on the previous year of about 10% — as discussed today in another LUF thread.____________________Frog Leaping photobook Edited August 7, 2020 by Nowhereman

They are small, but it is a $5k camera. Take it back to the dealer and get a replacement, they should expect customers to be fussy about quality at this price. It’s disappointing that factory QC is lacking so that this got out the door in the first place. I remember buying the most expensive lens I have ever bought new (35mm summicron ASPH) and finding a small chip on the annodized lens barrel. It was less than 1mm but annoyed the hell out of me on an uber-expensive lens. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced it. I had to wait a while but at least I had the piece of mind that I had a flawless lens for the crazy money I paid. 1

I could probably live with the bubble; at some point, I may try exchanging for a leather covering. I did reach out and send the online store a message through their online form Thursday night, but haven't received a response, yet. I decided to get adventurous and use a polishing cloth with a little elbow work (and some breath condensate) on the blemish, and check it out! So much less noticeable now, if at all! Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I can still make out the outline if really looking at certain angles of light, or maybe it's just from my "memory" on tracing the blemish where it used to be seen. I'm much happier now. Maybe a little more polishing and it could be completely polished away, but I'm getting somewhat worried at what point could I potentially ruin the finish, too. In any case, I'm excited to start using my MP! Thank you for sharing my sentiment on expectations. andrew01 Posted August 9, 2020 Share #4177 Posted August 9, 2020 Good news that it was just a surface blemish. I initially thought it was some problem with the chrome plating, which would be bad news in the long term. I would get the leather replaced if I was you, I always hated the standard leather on the MP. Upthread there is an example of a camera converted to a Hermes edition with custom leather. It looks stunning. There is a link to the provider of the custom leather and there are plenty of amazing options but no doubt the cost is $$$$$.
