I will have to flag this for pornographic content... This post gave me goosebumps...

Jokes aside, these are better pictures and more emotional and convincing to get a silver MP than the cold boring ones on the Leica Online Store 😃
I see you have a black paint Voigtlander on there, Mehrdad... Any chance you still have pictures of this combo that are not Macro? I'm wondering how the black paint VMs would look on my silver M7 for quite some time now...

Hey Marckyokay,

happy you like the pictures. I will post some pictures next week of the blackpaint Voigtländer 28mm with the silver MP.

Don't have the glass with me right now.

I love the look although ;)

You should check if your MP scratches film. If it was produced in Jan 2023, it falls in the category of MP and M6’s with bad batches of pressure plates.

Raining on his parade...😁

That indeed looks interesting!
But I'm still torn between the silver and the bp version...

Also, thanks to you I now realised that the bp lens looks a little odd with a aluminium anodised sun-shade! Never thought of that!

Finish-wise, the LH-12 hood matches the the black paint version better than the LH-4N pictured above. Because of the textured surface of the LH-12, it doesn't look like it's supposed to match, only compliment.

Oh yes that works.
Since I want to get the 21mm Skopar, it’s gonna be the textured LH-11 anyways.

But since I already have a silver 21mm Leica viewfinder (damn those are expensive) I tended towards the silver VM 21mm.
But damn the black paint also looks coooooool in Mefty’s pictures.

According to my exhaustive research, Leica made the MP in three batches.  One batch in 1958, one in 1972 and one in 1985.

Mine is from 1958 as can be shown from the number in the VF:

Here is my new one and the one that will accompany me for the rest of my life (hopefully). After a few years with the M6, which I never quite liked optically, and a year with an M2, where I realized that I would like to have a light meter after all, I decided to get an MP. Since I always wanted a Black Paint anyway and the old ones are priceless, this was now the most consistent way on all roads and I am pretty happy now.
The only thing I am sad about is that the a la carte program is no longer available. I would have liked to have some things different - if you already pay such a high price. But I don't want to get hung up on that now.

With the lens I was very torn. It should be a cron and I wanted to like a black, which also matched from the aesthetics. v2 & v3 are too soft in the corners for me. The KoB is great - has a great mix of sharpness and character - but is still more expensive than a current one in very good condition.
The ASPH v1 is supposed to have a magenta touch, which I don't like. The ASPH v2, on the other hand, is supposed to have a warmer image, so I got it at a very, very good price and will give it a try. If it is too modern for me, I will bite the bullet and switch to the v4. But I still have hope that this modern lens and film will complement each other well. Let's see..

I never noticed any magenta touch from my Asph V1.  Did that claim come from digital camera users where many sensors have slight colour influences baked into their algorithms?  Or from M8/M9 users where (especially the 8 ) where the sensor was susceptible to purple tones due to the cover glass?
