Advertisement Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Hi martin, Take a look here I love my MP. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IkarusJohn Posted November 29, 2011 Share #2442 Posted November 29, 2011 I have finally acknowledged the inevitable - that I am not using my MP enough to warrant keeping it. There is an immaculate Silver MP now listed in the For Sale section of this Forum. Sad day. Cheers John

menos I M6 Posted November 30, 2011 Share #2445 Posted November 30, 2011 Jason, how is the focussing with the leaf shutter release base working with the M - it looks rather close to the RF window. Is the shutter on your lens still operable? Do you have any photographs to share from this lens?

I did and bought a new MP after selling mine regretting my former decision. If you don't need the money, consider .

wattsy Posted November 30, 2011 Share #2448 Posted November 30, 2011 I hope you won't regret your decision. I did and bought a new MP after selling mine regretting my former decision. If you don't need the money, consider . Yes, I had a similar experience late last year. I sold a perfectly good MP that I'd only used for a tiny handful of rolls in the 2 years or so I'd owned it. Only a couple of months later I started to drift back towards wanting to shoot more film and found myself having:rolleyes: to buy a new MP.
IkarusJohn Posted November 30, 2011 Share #2449 Posted November 30, 2011 Thanks Ian & Paulus, I will see. If it sells now, I'll let it go. If not, maybe I'll put it in the cupboard for a bit. Cheers John
mafoofan Posted November 30, 2011 Share #2450 Posted November 30, 2011 She's been here before, but she's older now, has some elegant signs of aging, and is in a new relationship. Gorgeous MP, Mark. Interesting how the white paint in the "Leica" engraving has fallen out while the serial number has remained intact. Would you ever have Leica fill it back in or do you prefer as is?

Mark Pedley Posted December 1, 2011 Share #2452 Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Gorgeous MP, Mark. Interesting how the white paint in the "Leica" engraving has fallen out while the serial number has remained intact. Would you ever have Leica fill it back in or do you prefer as is? Anyway, no, I prefer as is. The white paint doesn't fit in my opinion. I must admit, when it first started to fall out, I helped it along a little with my thumbnail. Now the recessed "Leica" matches up with all other brassing extremities. I tried scratching away at the serial number with my thumbnail, but it does not budge I'm sure it will fall out at some point (not that I really care!). The MP is a "stonewash" camera to me. Jeans ain't jeans if they are not rough and faded ("stonewashed"). MP's aren't MP's unless they are brassed, dented, scratched, and show clear signs of NOT being a cuddly toy. The M9 is proving tougher to "stonewash" (but the display screen did transform into a colourless, matte screen quite quickly..fully scratched.....but still does the job just fine). semrich Posted December 7, 2011 Share #2453 Posted December 7, 2011 Seems like we needed another photo here to keep the thread going, and it's about time I put one up. It does share duty with the M2 and M3 otherwise it would be more brassed that it is. Welcome, dear visitor! andrekeli Posted December 13, 2011 Share #2457 Posted December 13, 2011 U know, my wife hates this thread very much.. Had my first MP but sold it (see post #1736 in this thread). Regretted it very much.. Finally, thanks to this thread, I just got one last week and now I will never ever sell it again... Here it is with its recent descendant... Pardon the ugly iPhone pic. Checkland Posted December 13, 2011 Share #2458 Posted December 13, 2011 Leica just lent me an M7 for a few weeks while my MP was in for a service, got it back yesterday and is working perfectly, absolute joy to use. At the time of purchasing I was so tempted by an M7 and really couldn't decide until I was in the shop ordering one, but after having one for a few weeks I now know I made the right decision. The film advance, shutter and everything else good about an MP was just 'better' for the want of a better word. So pleased with my choice..
Guest sterlinstarlin Posted December 13, 2011 Share #2459 Posted December 13, 2011 I own an MP and an M7. I find both to be an absolute pleasure to use.
Checkland Posted December 13, 2011 Share #2460 Posted December 13, 2011 Don't get me wrong, the M7's auto mode is a joy to use and so so quick... But there's just something about the fully mechanical shutter I just can't put my finger on (no pun) it just makes you smile, guess that's why they call it MP..
