Leica in Spain?

Walking down the airport in Frankfurt to catch a flight you´ll note in almost every electronic store the presence of Leica products. I´m sometimes wondering about who is passing by and buying a Leica-M cam or lenses exposed in that shops for thousand of Euros just a few minutes before taking off but there is enough crazy money around the world that needs to be spent. So it´s a guess that Leica might be happy with it´s sales in such "prominent locations".

Living since a few years in Madrid I´m also wondering why Leica is not present with a shop - maybe a gallery too - in the third European metropolitan area, providing dedicated Leica users with the chance to see, to taste and to buy new products. Madrid is a wonderful, lightful and vibrant city that provides a wide range of possibilities and knowing the affinity of Spaniards for German high quality products it´s rather peculiar why Leica products aren´t offered in a decent store here.

Anybody aware about the companies market strategy or if they are planning to expand into new markets maybe with new stores in Spain?

They recently gave a dealership to a camera shop in Sevilla. Unfortunately the shop is agent for Canon and many other brands and Leica is just one of them. The downside for me is when I contact Leica CS they refer me to 'my local dealer'. I do not like visiting the city and the shop has ignored one or two emails about Leica products from me so I am not impressed with this turn of events.

More or less the same in Madrid. If you are seeking a Leica dealer your first choice is "Fotocasion" in a secondary city location. On it´s webpage you´ll find between a plastic-cam support for € 25 and a Panasonic digicam for € 1.200 a Leica SL for € 6.900! No doubt, that´s exactly the place where I always expected this singular device, spend such amount of money and find the dedicated service for a Leica camera. Let´s see when we´ll find M´s and lenses well sorted in Lidl and Aldi stores around the corner ;). Don´t want to appear picky or elitist but I believe that the brand deserves a better and exclusive presence in Spain due to it´s price level, quality and tradition.

I know Fotocasion. I use them for mail order. I bough SL batteries from them when the Sevilla store didn't even have a SL for sale. They also sourced a Leica M lens case for me when the Sevilla store didn't reply to my enquiry. I would, however prefer to deal directly with Leica when I have a problem with a camera or lens. As you infer, that's what we pay for.

In ValencIa we have Fotopro. They also carry most big brands but are extremely nice and professional. When the sensor of my M9 -not purchased there- had to be repaired they managed it all in the most satisfactory way. Even if better prices can be found in Andorra, I guess my next Leica will be bought from them.
