Just a Leica D2 for travel, or X Vario or Q?

I am not particular care the Dlux 109. Like all Dlux line, it is still a Panasonic camera except they pay Leica to put the red dot on it. It is a fantastic Japanese breed camera, just like many other Japanese cameras, such a Fujifilm X20 or Sony RX, but with bigger sensor. Not inferior, but just different from the other Leica breed lines (X, S, SL, Q).

I suspect this conversation has been had already, but my understanding is that it goes a long way beyond slapping a red dot on the Panny!

For starters, Leica has had a lot of input into Panasonic, so the 109 is halfway there to begin with. Rather more so than (say) the D-Lux 5, which I owned until recently.

Both Panasonic LX100 and Leica 109 are excellent cameras, oriented towards serious photography rather than happy snaps.I especially like the control set up, with dedicated exposure and aperture rings.

The Leica version is more than just a red dot. The body shape and several details are different. The LX100 has a small grip on the front face, which Leica, in their quest for purity, didn't include.

I've got an aftermarket grip on my 109, which I love.

In their quest of purity they should have streamlined menus and functions a bit. A grip is always good to be sold separately [emoji51]
