can-photo Posted December 4, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2016 (edited) It is the motors on the lens controlled by the lens firmware that talks with the camera firmware using digital connectors, and camera firmware algorithm decides the part of the image to be on focus depending on the choice of the focus options.
