Dear friends,

I just came back from the lake area near Fuji Mountain in Tokyo.  It was a great trip, although the weather was kind of bad.... it is simply too foggy to take a perfect shot of the Fuji Mountain.

I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and tried to call for a taxi to the shooting location I have in mind. However.....no taxi....at all! As stubborn as I am, I decided to walk for 1.5 hours to the location for the sunrise shot.

As I was walking towards to the destination, I have a bad feeling since I can see NOTHING over the lake. The Fuji mountain disappeared.  After I arrived, I sat there waiting for the sun to rise.

However, there came the sun, and I took my first shot.... here it is... "Ladies and gentlemen, Fuji Mountain Sun Rise!"

I was disappointed but at the same time.... my stubbornness overpowered my brain again.  I decided to sit there and wait for the perfect moment.  It was so cold, and luckily I brought with me a bottle of hot coffee....

People started to come in, including some folks who decided to do canoeing on a foggy day.  With nothing to do, I took some pictures of them.

I have waited for more than three hours..... finally, my persistence paid back... the fog started to go away, and I was able to see the coast on my right-hand side.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am happy to share with you this picture that I took under a big tree full of red leaves after three hours of wait!  Hope you will enjoy it.

Best regards,

Terence from Hong Kong

Breathtaking particularly the one taken of the mountain with part of the tree shown above. One of the best landscapes scene I've seen so far. Love the contrast between the fiery colors of the leaves and the muted almost monochrome tones of the mountain.

In theory both are in good shape, after cla and working good. BUT is any difference beside desgin of lens from 1974 over older one? Price is nearyly the same.
Second set is more complete, lens hood etc.... but first one is in shop in my city, second one --- only shipping.

We already have a very extensive 'Mandler Magic' topic, but as much I am keen on Mandler's signature look and his contribution to the "Leica glow", there is another very distinguished gentleman in the 'House of Leica' that as a leader of Leica's optical design team since 2002 gave us a bunch of new high performance M-Lenses and pushed the terms FLE, ASPH and APO towards modern Leica perfection. He was the guy that had the balls to say Dr. Mandler's 75mm Summilux 1.4 was his *least* favorite design and went on to "Make Summilux great again" - all the way down to 21mm.
Show us some of the "clinical look" of the Peter Karbe magic and do tell what lens he designed is your favorite...

Hi All, I am sharing my short article few years back when I traveled around France for a month just carrying one body (ME) and one lens (50mm Summilux). It was a regret decision for the fist 1 week but I am enjoying the thrill after that :D. I wonder if you guys have the same experience with just relying on 1 lens for your long trip.

Having recently purchased an Industar-50 f3.5, I have an issue regarding focussing.
When set to infinity, it doesn't focus correctly, seemingly needing a slight turn beyond infinity.
Also when trying to focus on objects at 0.65m (the minimum focal distance of this lens), I need to stand about 1m away to focus properly.
I don't know if it's a problem with the camera or the lens.
      Any suggestions?
