After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue APO—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red APO—you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more. "

Id buy one just because that would mean that I'm a rich bastard, not because I have good taste.

I see no problem with Leica offering niche products for sale.  Many people will have little interest in them but for those who do it's better that they're available than they're not.  None of the recent niche products such as this lens, the ping pong M, the Lenny Kravitz 'aged' set, the M9Ti, the black 50/0.95 Noctilux with the black numbers, etc were of interest to me but the Retro E43 50/1.4 Summilux-M asph is and I'm very glad I have one, which I regularly use.   Pete.

It has Hari's name (aka, 'The God Particle') written all over it. In a good way.

Originally, this lens was a one off made for Dr. Kaufmann, seems like they are now making a limited edition out of it

I do love red lettering on black lenses, but this is more than what I can digest James!

Red anodising has been around for a very  long time - and to me it smacks of 'cheapness' I'm afraid, because it used to be the 'standard', 'cheap' finish on many anodised items. Whilst it actually looks far better than I would have anticipated, its not a lens colour that I would want to live with myself.

Because they think we are idiots and will pay for anything.

Which given previous limited editions.. a few of us are.

If it means they subsidize R&D for mainline products, so be it.

But could we please get some of those soon?  2016 has been the year of Emperors New Clothes so far.

2015 was a great year though, so hopefully 2017 will be as well.
