bilbrown Posted November 7, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since there is this great deal right now, and I am finding that I might need a back-up to my M typ240 body (which I use as my quick fix at events etc) I was considering getting a FASTER M-P typ240 or the M typ246 Thing is, I USE FLASH, either the SF 20 or SF 40 so the low light variant of the M Mono typ246 isn't "really" nessacary (although sometimes I would like to be pretty discrete) I also shoot 99.999% in black & white at night. Typically only changing exposure values. But I like my blacks well, BLACK, and it seems like the M Mono typ246 is a bit heavy in the "shades of grey" category. PLUS... I have the original M Monochrom and the SL... so technically I am already FINE... its just the size of the body and the SPEED at which I shoot with my M doesn't really work with the original Monochrom, and is OKAY with the M240 (speed wise and feel of shutter variance) , but I think the 2GB buffer might be pretty awesome. Now, it's just choosing the MP 240 or the MM 246? Thoughts???
Advertisement Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Hi bilbrown, Take a look here Conundrum: M-P240, MM246 or just stick with my M240, SL and original M9M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
John Ricard Posted November 8, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2016 Since you like Black and White and need a better buffer, the Black and White version of the M240 seems to be the best choice for you. That camera, has the increased buffer of the M-P that you need/desire.
mmradman Posted November 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted November 8, 2016 Since you like Black and White and need a better buffer, the Black and White version of the M240 seems to be the best choice for you. That camera, has the increased buffer of the M-P that you need/desire. M246 comes with bigger (2Gb) buffer - same same M240-P. Having M240 & M246 together makes sense due to battery compatibility plus everything else being the same or very similar; menus, grips, EVF. jaapv Posted November 14, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2016 And Blacks=Blacks, LR has a slider for that. The camera has little to do with your choice in black point in postprocessing. However, the Monochrom cameras will have the most subtle tonal range, giving you the chance to get the look you want. If you like the harsh look (as I guess from your post), see the images Sobol took for the introduction of the Monochrom1. http://www.jacobauesobol.com/arrivals-and-departures/
