Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate for S006

Hello

Can somebody recommend a good Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate for the S006? I have a Gitzo D type plate for my Gitzo tripod but it does not really fix the camera well. The camera tends to circle around the screw as there is only one fixing point and the plate is pure metal and no rubber.

I have searched the various Arca Swiss plates but none says it is designed for the 006. I have seen the L-plate from RRS that is specially designed for the S but it is pricy and I am not sure whether this is suitable for me as it adds much to the overall size of the camera.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards

I use a RRS BP-CS plate on my S007. It is only $49 and works great. It also works on my Nikon D600. There is a lip on one side that keeps it in place and I have a piece of tape on it so it does not harm the S body.

Great recommendations. Thanks a lot. I will look at the RRS L-plate and the tiny CB-CS plate as well. The 140 USD are not a problem as long as they are usefuly spend. I try to avoid spending money on gear that does not work. But seen from your recommendations it seems to be a good tool.

I use a L-bracket from Arca Swiss that has served me well over the years since it is adjustable so I have used it with several different cameras and now the S-006.

I also use the Really Right Stuff L-bracket with the RRS BH-55 ball head.  Pricey, but solid and functional.  The L-bracket fits close to the camera body, so the added bulk is minimal.  However, if it bothers you, then it can be easily remove ed and reinstalled with the furnished hex wrench.  I have used the same ball head for ten or more years, and it still works like it did the day I bought it.

+1 for the RRS L-Bracket, which I recommend over a simple plate in that it will allow you to shoot in vertical orientation without having your (heavy enough) camera hanging out of your tripod / ballhead's gravity center.

Best,

I've been using the Markin PG-32 plate on my S006 and the RRS L plate.  The Markins has the advantage of being very small and having attachments on both sides for a hand strap but the big advantage  is the clamp attachment is square allowing the clamp to be oriented front-back or side to side whichever is more convenient.  The plate is not made for the s006, the attachment to the strap is very small and may need customizing.  Once the plate is attached to the camera it is very strong and is barely noticeable except when putting the camera down on a flat surface but that would be true of any plate.   They're difficult to find as Markins is not a brand found in camera stores, ebay and the distributor are the best sources.

So is the RRS bracket, on both landscape and portrait formats

Thanks John, that is a feature I find most useful, particularly in the field.  I might add that the disadvantage to Markins plates is their incompatibility with RRS quick release levers, the plates are slightly undersized for the clamp dimensions with (no clamp adjustment available) however easily overcome with gaffers tape.   I have since changed my quick release lever clamps to classic (screw type).

I have the RRS L-plate and it is marvelous.

Brilliantly engineered and not an issue at all for camera.

You can call them and they probably have a generic one for the S but I am a big fan of the L-plate.

The RRS L plate is extremely well made and fits all of the S models. If you use the camera in portrait position the L is much better than a baseplate only. It depends how you use your camera of course. The one piece design is shaped to keep battery accessible. The ports on the side of the camera for tethering for example are accessible but there is not much room. If you need to connect there you really need the extension as well for clearance.

If you use the multifunction grip you have to remove it to use the L Plate. There is no second model to fit the camera with grip

An alternative to the excellent RRS plate:

I own this and like that I can take it off/put it on without a hex key. With the RRS plates, I am always searching for the tool (of course, some people leave the plate on their cameras permanently, but I don't like these L-brackets on my camera when shooting without a tripod). They also make a horizontal-only plate, shown on their website.

The link isn't working, what is the product name you are using? Thanks

The link seems to work on and off. I bought it via eBay. I think they call it 3S-Kangrinpoche PLLS Professional Quick Release L Plate.
