Leica Minilux Appreciation Thread

Just wanted to shed a light on the Minilux. Always cursed on the internet for the E01/E02...but what a nice camera to use! I found a black model some time ago, it was broken with E02 but the look was hypnotizing and it was quite cheap I had to buy it! Few weeks ago i finally got it repaired and cleaned and now is back crispy as its release day!

I just love this little camera! Its automation makes taking photos so simple and enjoyable. Is just nice to know to have a Leica in the pocket and be able to snap a nice flick at any given time without being noticed at all.
Not sure if Leica would still repair those (and at what cost) but some people out in Lisbon they fix those 'death errors' for 80 Euros. They quick and very professional.
And as much as I read online 'get a Contax T2 is way more reliable' I agree and disagree. The T2 is just not the same, not better nor worse...just not the same.

This Minilux now stays in my backpack everywhere I go. Long live Leica Minilux.

Congrats with your Minilux. The lens is outstanding, superb.Good pictures. Which film did you use? I still have my Minilux but ever since I got my CM's I haven't used it anymore. Compared to the CM the build quality of the Minlux feels better, but the CM has a better viewfinder (stil small), faster shutter and the flash can be set default to off.

Enjoy your Minilux.

Feel free to post some pics from the CM. I been looking to get one for such a long time, never had a chance to see one for a reasonable price though!

Hello, yes the prices of second hand CM's are very high. I got one a few years ago in mint condition for 400 €. Here's a picture taken with the CM using AgfaPhoto Vista Plus 200 ISO. The image is heavy compressed to get it here.

Lovely photo, thanks for sharing! Wow 400 Euros was a bargain for a CM...I was looking on eBay earlier and I've seen one for 600 Euros :o

Thanks that you like the photo. When I use the CM it's most of the time with slide film and in that case I do not have a digital file, just development and mounting. But I found a professional lab that is able to devellop and scan, this means I have to do the mounting of the slides myself. I know I have also used the minilux with color negative film and did have CD's with scanned pictures of it. I'll see if I find the CD's and post some of the pictures here.

Concerning the CM, I got it a few years back here in the buy and sell section. eBay is usually more expensive. I also remember that a CM once has been available at Aperture UK. Sometimes I take a look at their website because they seem to have reasonable prices for second hand gear.

I don't know if it has been posted before. It's a nice video about analog photography and the Minilux:

If I didn't know better I'd have thought this video was some kind of hipster parody. :D  The only giveaway (that it was probably sincere) was that the subject used a cafetiere to make his morning coffee rather than some fancy 'artisan' kit.

Sorry for the late reply, I know a person in Portugal who know how to bring back to life those Minilux...you can ship over to him he is 100% reliable I had him doing services for me on multiple occasions. Let me know if you need any details

I finally took the plunge and bought a Minilux, too. I was surprised about the weight, a total difference to the other P&S, I own and use (Ricoh GR1s, Rollei Prego micron, Lomo LC-A) Tomorrow I will bring my first test roll to the drug store for development. Until now everything seems to work flawlessly.
