AUSTRALASIAN ONE CHALLENGE - Advance Notice

Recommended Posts

Advertisement (gone after registration)

Take this as advance notice of the Australasian One Challenge to be contested in Melbourne on April 8, 2017.

The usual rules of competition will apply and all and sundry are cordially invited to make a sacrifice, similar to the Maya Indians, and make peace with your Bank Manager and book flights to Tullamarine (Melbourne International Airport).

From there you will be regaled with confusing directions and compasses that work upside down, not to mention State Governor's who conduct business on their ear!

Attendees at the Lisbon One Challenge will be further regaled with incentives and  coercion's to make the 'short' trek south in April next year. A promo DVD has been prepared for handout to serious wannabees to illustrate what you will miss if you don't come.

Any serious thoughts on preferred activities are invited, but I have several photo excursions planned out, well nearly. Of course, Melbourne is the centre of world cuisine

Really encouraging that some are already coming on board. I hope you can all maintain the will this far out. I know about long term commitment. I nominated for Lisbon 6 months in advance. I'm still waiting for those months to pass! Actually, I'm waiting for the all clear from my doctor as my working bits (camera wise) are in plaster. Can't even hold a camera properly at present.

Andy, we have had a lot of rain down here recently. I think this part of the the globe has shrunk as a consequence so we may be nearer than you think.

Fantastic that this is coming together - we are coming together down under!

Our flights are booked and visas granted! Ritsuko and I will be there after a stopover in Singapore.

Once you have more of the plan, we'll think about accommodation and what greatness awaits us around Australia (or at least Melbourne).

I'll be there, if you'll have me......

Gordon

Gordon, of course we'll have you! Melbournians 'take' Sidneysiders every time.

Actually, we could be at risk of this event being Sydney centric. Already there are two of you against one Melbournite!

Dan & Ritsuko, if you have any special plans or ideas, let me know if I can help or advise. Have you planned how long you will be here? Can I help advise about accommodation, etc?

This sounds great.

I'll throw my hat into the ring. Will a Brisbanite pull the venue north as well (to Sydney)??

Wow! It doesn't take long for a tug 'o war to start does it!

Don't throw your hat away, you may need it down here.

Warning to our (welcome) international visitors. There are already some great Aussie shooters (IMO) getting fired up, so tune your cameras.

Hint: Everything down here works upside down, so practice holding your cameras that way.

Putting this in my diary with a big red crayon. Woudn't be at all surprised if Leica Camera Australia might be willing to connect for this. Join for a lunch, whatever.

Put me down as a tentative. Work travel plans could scupper everything ... or give me business tickets.

PS - a work trip or two are planned for Sydney next year, I just dont know when.

Count me in too please.

I hear you're sporting a broken wrist at the moment.

Remember to use two hands next time.

April 8th should be nicely in the autumn shouldn't it?

I shall try to remember to bring my special southern hemisphere compass.

Pete.

PS, Thanks for organising this.

Exactly how we all feel about all those Northern Hemisphere challenges in interesting locations...

That's why it's good that John, who can regularly join us in Europe, is organising this one.

If you have half as good a time as we have had over the years, you'll have a blast.
