Pecole Posted October 24, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted October 24, 2016 Excellent! What's not to love about that! Thanks! A very old (82) former pilot especially appreciates a comment coming from a guy who knows how different is today's flying, mostly as electronics' surveyor. david strachan Posted October 24, 2016 Share #6 Posted October 24, 2016 Pecole Why are the engine cowlings so dented and "beat up"? Cheers..
Pecole Posted October 25, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted October 25, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pecole Why are the engine cowlings so dented and "beat up"? Cheers.. Well, Dave, it's because (if I remember right so long ago) the Belgian Air Force did not receive in time the replacement for a cowling damaged and "repaired" in Kamina air base, Congo. But it did not affect C-54's flying capabilities, indeed. I believe such cases would not be allowed today...at least in "developed" countries.
mija1789 Posted November 10, 2016 Share #8 Posted November 10, 2016 Many thanks Pecole It reminded me of my first flight. That was on a DC-4 (the civil version) in 1952 from Brussels to the then Belgian Congo.
