Sad news. My dear, dear friend Peter Walker passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening in Singapore. I am posting the message here for those of my Leica associates who knew Peter, particularly for his recent posts on the SL System thread, and will be as shocked and saddened as I am. One of nature's gentlemen, a wonderful husband and father, and truly impressive professional, Peter was taken from us far too soon. My thoughts are with his widow Leena, daughter Angie, son Ben, as well as David his brother and Judith, David's wife, who were present when Peter died.

Peter and I were due to go on a photographic tour of the Isle of Skye beginning next week.  He was determined to convert me from my M240 to the SL System.  In the prime of his life and at the peak of his career.  His sudden passing has left me speechless. May God rest his soul.

Robert

PS I thought I would post here in the SL thread first, as it is where Peter has been posting regularly.  The mods may wish to move the post to the right thread in due course.

Robert,

this is very sad news indeed. I never met Peter in the "real world", but we very recently exchanged messages about the very trip to Skye you mentioned, he asked for my advice on places and so on, and was the most pleasing gentleman to converse with.

I am truly sad to hear that he is no longer with us. May he rest in peace, and my condolences to his family and friends.

Best,

Vieri

How very sad

Like Vieri I didn't know Peter in person - but I had a lovely correspondence with him about his comparison images between his old Hasselblad and his SL - which formed a significant part of the Leica SL article in the blog, and an important starting point for me.

I'd like to send heartfelt condolences to his family and friends

with very best wishes
