eddds Posted May 30, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just developed a Delta 100 film,(using my M3 and 50mm summilux) and found a bright point in each frame at the same place. I put a light in the place of the lens towards the shutter and found a tiny hole in the cloth of the shutter. Is it possible to close this tiny hole without changing all the cloth? But yes, such pinholes have been commonly patched, if the rest of the curtain is in good shape. Often a small piece of shutter cloth is carefully stitched or glued over a hole, and a small pinhole may be closed with a tiny amount of opaque rubber paint. I haven't done this myself, but some have suggested the neoprene glue used in repairing diver's foam wet suits, or black "PlastiDip" rubber coating. 250swb Posted May 31, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2016 Yes I think I'd give it a go with PlastiDip, apply it from both sides using either a fine bush or a cocktail stick. Leitz (Remember them?) repaired the cotton* shutter cloth with whatever it was they used. Altho the repair has always looked cosmetically challenged it has functioned without any problems & continues to look the way it did the day I received it back many years ago. Henry, thank you for the attachments, please note that sending the camera is not an option for me due to the bad policy of our customs, last year I had to send my M240 to Germany for shutter replacement and when receiving I had to pay the customs around 900 Euros, the cost for repairs was zero, (I can pay a ticket and stay 3 days in Paris with this sum) . Bernd thank you for your concern, we have filled the carnet (me and the local dealer), and Leica sent me an invoice with Zero amount they still charged me. I have never had any trouble with my Leica gear, but with my cinema gear, I sometimes get questioned. So far there hasn't been an incident I couldn't defend, but it is sometimes nerve-wrecking in countries that don't have clear-cut carnet requirements.
