Help: SL stopped working!

Over the last 3 days I have shot over 400 pictures.  Everything worked perfectly.  This morning I went to take a shot.  The camera autofocused perfectly and everything appeared normal until I went to shoot the picture then nothing...no shutter and the camera just ignored me.  I tried shutting it off several times and taking out the battery several times.  The battery is fully charged and the camera recognizes the discs in the camera.  I had the SL 24-90 lens attached but the same result when I mounted the M50 lux with the adaptor.

Anyone experienced this?  Is there something I should be trying?

Thanks,

Mark

The next time it happens do this: look at the top of the LCD (or EVF). Do you see the icon of a microphone and two volume bars to the right of it? If so, the camera is in video mode and won't respond to the shutter release.  Give the LV button a short press to return to photograph mode.

With my new SL the problem happened a couple of times before I became deliberate about the difference between short presses and long presses of the buttons.

Thank you.  I think you are correct about what was happening except that I could not get the camera to come out of video mode.  The only way I could get back control over the shutter was to reset the whole system.

Same experience for me ... I have not understand.

Anyway, my video mode is blocked in the menu.

Hugues33,

Could you elaborate? Your SL is in video mode and a short press of the LV button doesn't return it to photograph mode?

That is correct.  It is now working correctly.  A short push does disengage the video mode.  Before I reset the camera, however, it did not reset.

Now all is working correctly.
