Vulcanite/covering question

Last November I sent my M8 to Leica for CLA; as part of the service, they replaced the covering (Vulcanite?) on the camera as a matter of course...I had not requested the replacement. Now the covering is coming up where it abuts the the buttons on left side of LCD. I have pressed it back down several times, but it persists in detaching. Is there a home-brew method of dealing with this? I hate to send the camera off for another month or two.

I'd be trying a contact adhesive, a small amount first.

We have "F2" out here, but anything that you apply, and let dry, then push the two parts together should work.

"F2" cleans up with either turps or petrol, can't remember which. I use it for shoes etc, so even a trip to a shoe repair place might be enough, heck you won't need much.

What about taking the chance and putting some real leather on it? It is fairly simple (see http://meder.myportfolio.com/leica-m8-re-leathering), you can get really good pre-cut leather at http://www.cameraleather.com/online_ordering.htm#Leica or http://aki-asahi.com/store/html/M8/M8.php
