The moire may be a bit distracting, but I still think this is a cool shot.  In focus, too :).  Yes, the insect crawled right on my phone, creating this intriguing merge of life and technology.

Spider!

Although the EXIF doesn't seem to show anything that would prove it, I remember having to switch to Macro Mode to get this photo.  So this is a genuine Q macro shot.

Hope you enjoy :).

I wish. I have traveled to China many times in past years, but not lately. I confess these and more were taken at a frog and reptile workshop held by Jim Zuckerman. It was super fun and I took over 1600 macro shots with the Q and a Canon ring flash that I adapted to that purpose. See previous posts for pics of that. Thanks for prodding me to post a few.

A couple of cool butterflies at Fairchild Garden's Butterfly Conservatory in Coral Gables, Florida.  I was amazed how good my butterfly pictures were - I expected it to be a real bust because I normally get these pictures with a telephoto or macro telephoto.  But I was able to get really close to the smaller guys and even got some respectable shots of them in flight, as you can see.  I know I took many shots in macro and many shots in close-range non-macro, so I can't swear these are macro ... or that they aren't!  In any event, if they are not macro, they are very, well, close.  Pun intended!

The classic Blue Morpho shot.  It was a little cooler than normal, and this meant the normally super-fast butterfly had to rest and gain energy from the sun.

A Bumblebee in our Sage this morning. The auto focus and macro mode on the Q is superb. I used the large, single point focus. I could not possibly use the EVF, so I just pointed the camera at the bee with it centered as best i could tell in the frame then pushed the shutter. Hoped for the best. I missed a lot, but I got a few and this is one of them. So much fun. The Canon ring light I adapted enables the whole macro operation to be well exposed and not overpowered. Much better than trying to use natural light. See previous macro posts for details.
