I made this for a macro mode group which subject of the week was "candles". It was hot in the fireplace, I had to do fast but the Q assumed and did the job!

This is the start of a little long time project of "past graffiti art" using my Leica Q in macro mode and off camera flash, showing interesting color and structures.

I have a Raynox DCR-150 Macro/Close-up Conversion Lens that is a 'left-over' from when I part-exchanged my X-Vario for the Q two years ago. Just received a Kood 49-43mm step-down ring (princely sum of £4.99) that enables the lens to be fitted to the Q. First quick test with the Raynox DCR-150, Q in Macro mode, f5.6, 1/60sec, ISO 1250, hand-held, cropped to remove the vignette. Quite pleased!

PS - also posted in the 'Leica Q & Raynox DCR-250' thread.

Received the new Hoya Macro 10X 49mm lens today. Playing with it and using my Canon Ring Flash. The Hoya really gets close for focus. Almost too close. I ended up not in macro mode in the flower photo.

Pretty cool lens in my opinion. The flower photo is actually three images at slightly different focus points then blended with focus stacking in Photoshop.

Shutter speed 1/500, f/5.6, ISO 100. Ring Flash in manual mode at 1/128 power,

The last image is handheld of an old WWII Morse Code key. Same settings as with the flower.

The Hoya lens ($79.95 at B&H) greatly improves the macro magnification from the standard 28mm lens, albeit with much reduced DOF.

I'm new to Q, and this thread has inspired me to use the macro function, as well as to order the Hoya 10 diopter unit.  The US mint it in the midst of a second round of state quarter coins, each with a design appropriate to the state, shown on the reverse side of the coin.  Between the small size of the lettering plus reflections I could not read what state this coin honored.  Shooting it at the shop where I got the coin in change I see it's South Dakota.

Very nice. Lots of detail.
