Our Iris are just now blooming in Colorado. It's a little late this year at our elevation of 7300'. I held a blue background behind the flower then did some processing in photoshop to smooth out some blemishes and make the color uniform. I love the colors from the Q. This was from a RAW file. It would be a big improvement for the Q to be able to select the focus point where it zooms in manual focus mode. In this case, I didn't want the flower in the center of the image. I had to focus then recompose. The flower was nicely illuminated from a sunny day with thin clouds.

Here a first macro shot after having my new Q for around one week. Almost beats my canon 6d + 100mm Macro 2.8L set-up :-)

I love this sort of image where there is enough out of focus background to provide context which in turn makes the main subject appear even sharper - nicely captured. Just a thought: I assume this is the full frame that was captured and I wondered if you had thought of cropping quite heavily to right and left into portrait format so that the near diagonal of the main subject fills the image but still has enough of the background to give context. As I say, just a thought and my personal view. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the feedback.

Indeed, I thought about a portrait crop/ orientation, but for some reason, in my my mind, when developing the image the other day, the branch sticking out to the lower right brought some weird balance to the frame overall, which I am seeing now does not quite work. I might upload a different crop and see how that goes. It's all about learning.

(also, I am impressed by how big the upload from my iPhone is - now at work accessing the desktop site)...impressive on these big screens, if a bit too saturated.

I might upload a portrait crop later this evening.   :)
