Leica Guy Posted May 31, 2016 Share #84 Posted May 31, 2016 We have a young couple with a 9 month old visiting. I wanted to capture his beautiful eyes. The Q macro mode is so sharp. SonomaBear Posted June 1, 2016 Share #85 Posted June 1, 2016 Close up work with the Q is easier than any camera I have used. This cat is a Lalique Crystal Cat owned by the charming lady that loaned me her Q to evaluate. First night with the Q learning for to use it. Manual focus but auto everything else. Ambient light, handheld, EXIF shows f17, 1/60th at 100 ISO. Original DNG with cropping in Lightroom to jpeg for web. Thank you Beverly! Love you! {I'm still learning how to get images up into posts...} ------ Welcome, dear visitor! Lucena Posted June 1, 2016 Author Share #86 Posted June 1, 2016 Found the upload and did it... Now when I write a post and include the image, my iPad just freezes the screen (greyed out) and does nothing. Maybe this site doesn't like iPad Safari? How do you include images in a post? {I'll try this full editor this time...} I use iPad Air 2 under safari and do not have any problem.

ralpheburns Posted June 1, 2016 Share #88 Posted June 1, 2016 The New Map of Europe... F2.8, 1/1250, ISO 100 Can anybody guess what this is? I'll bite. I love this kind of image, because it flips in my mind's eye... first time the orange is old paint on concrete sidewalk step, and then the next time the gritty areas stick out higher than the orange. My logic says that it's old paint on top of the grit, but once it flips in my head once then no matter what I can't see it the first way until I stand on my head! I get it... that on this planet the light usually comes from above and our minds expect shadows to be a certain way - even if it paints the wrong picture! Yes? No?

HaSaMi Posted June 2, 2016 Share #91 Posted June 2, 2016 Flaking yellow paint on a concrete surface? Parking restriction line perhaps? Close--flaking paint on a sidewalk reminding me of Europe :-) It took my kids quite a while to figure that out. Gerald

Leica Guy Posted June 6, 2016 Share #98 Posted June 6, 2016 I've been attempting to photograph Hummingbirds. It's rather challenging with the Q and relatively easy with my Canon 5D3. You need 5, yes 5, flashes to do this job well. I like the remote control over wifi on the Q, Wish my 5D3 had that. That is very helpful. Touch focus works reasonably well although I ended up manually focusing on the feeder. I'm experimenting with flashes and have made the Canon MR-14EX Ring Flash work after fabricating an adapter to hold it on to the lens, but for the life of me I cannot get it to fire other Canon flashes using the optical sensor. It works great when the ring flash is off the Q and all flashes fire. Once I install it on the Q, only the ring flash will fire with the shutter. Clearly I'm missing something important, but I will continue my quest to make a nice hummingbird shot with the Q. As a comparison, I've included on the last shot one taken with my 5D3. This is the quality I expect to end up with the Q. Also, I've included a pic of the ring flash on the Q, Looks kind of cool I think. When I figure this all out, I'll post a detailed summary for the forum. Wish me luck that it will be soon. Welcome, dear visitor!
