Great shots Dan! I need to go around today and look for tiny models!

I took 125 photos and barely got three in focus. These guys are very very active and hard to get into focus. I finally ended up using continuous shutter on the low speed; continuous AF plus fresh batteries in my flash. I wish the DOF was a little bigger. I may play with a smaller aperture and up the flash or ISO a bit. It’s all so much fun and challenging. My favorite is the one flying.

I took this guy using a low speed continuous shutter and taking about a dozen shots. Then I combined using focus stacking in Photoshop along with a bunch of cleanup there. It's not perfect, but it does show some of the power of combining multiple images where parts of an image are in focus. Fun challenge.

My Route 91/Harvest Festival Bracelet and Lucky Dollar:

Two years ago today, after scaling a 12’ fence and running for my life, I looked down to see this dollar in the grass. For some unknown reason, I stopped, picked it up, put it in my pocket and kept running. All the while automatic gunfire kept going and going, I was continuing to hear ricochets all around me, the smell of gunpowder was overwhelming and I had just seen more people shot than I ever dreamed possible.

The last few years have been a bit of a roller coaster, but no matter what, I didn’t need to stop for that dollar. It was just a part of that night, something that I did, something that I felt I just had absolutely no part in the decision-making.

A few weeks after the shooting, my close friends Kim and Ricky Krug were over for dinner and Kim asked me to show her how I found the dollar - and I had found it exactly as it is pictured. She got very emotional when she saw it and pointed to “IN GOD WE TRUST” - "look at what it says right there."

I’m not very religious - but Damn. I definitely had a moment.

I don’t know much, but I will have these 2 things for the rest of my life.

Aspen leaf and shadow in our bird bath. This is actually a pretty tricky photo to take. They sun angle has to be right and the leaf not too water logged so it doesn't lay flat on the water. I cleaned up some distracting debris in the bird bath background plus I blurred it some using photoshop. I love the way that the light is refracted by the water around the edge and the surface tension causing it to not be flat. A fun image to try and capture. I first discovered this several years ago when a leaf fell into our bird bath.  Leica Q2, ISO 100, f/11, 1/250. macro mode.
