help needed with ndl

Advertisement (gone after registration)

this flowering plant has appeared in our beds in profusion this spring




sadly it is an NDL which stands for No Darn Label ...I believe it is a salvia of some sorts, perhaps a hybrid

I hate not knowing the name of a plant in my garden, particularly if it is one I think I planted :) ...this is childish, I realize, but still annoying for me

any of you horticultural mavens know what this is?
