Ernstk Posted May 13, 2016 Author Share #26 Posted May 13, 2016 Removed inner plastic base plate to allow access to the two screws that hold the top plate in place. One is in the depths of the battery box, the other is accessed through the hole in the silver plate at the bottom of the photo. It's tough to reach and I had to modify a Philips 00 screwdriver to fit. The screw can't be seen so I was working blind. I filed and sharpened the tip of the screwdriver to ensure a perfect fit and tried it for size on the battery box screw. This was the most nerve-wracking part of the process. If I chewed up the screw then that would have ended the project. It's a captive screw and remains attached. Welcome, dear visitor! Ernstk Posted May 13, 2016 Author Share #27 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Removed leatherette covering to expose the 3 screws at each side that hold the two camera halves together Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! The two halves wouldn't separate until I discovered a tiny screw that holds the bottom parts of the two pieces together. Removed two ribbon connectors and one two wire connector. Rear part, containing the LCD that I need, removed from main body. Now to repeat the same process with camera 2... My sincere thanks to Mark Norton, whose Anatomy of the M8 threads and other threads provided the guidance for me to undertake this. gbealnz Posted May 13, 2016 Share #40 Posted May 13, 2016 Braver than me Gungadin, . We're you able to get at the inside of the top plate, to push out that ghastly dent? Next job, see if you can "fix" the LCD, I find it incomprehensible that this is not possible. Good work. Gary
