Wading in a stream

I put on the hip boots this afternoon and hiked up the stream bed in Nisene Marks State Park. A bogen monopod makes a good wading staff and allowed me to make long exposures(1/20sec) at a low ISO. This is a spliced composite of three shots. DMC-FZ8

Here's a less interesting, but typical shot a bit further up the stream. About f4.5 @ 1/8sec. It was very dark.

I walked up about a mile, and then began remembering all the posted signs about mountain lion danger in the area. The farther I got up the creek, the more edgy I became, and began wondering if my monopod would make a decent club, and whether I would manage to get a picture of the cat before I was eaten. I then decided I had enough pictures for the day and waded back down :->
