Gee, when standard Leica M cameras can capture images as lovely as some of these, what is the point of buying a specialized "Monochrom" camera?

Because I wanted to.

I also want to, but it is more expensive than I can easily afford, and when I go out to look for photos, I don't know ahead of time if I'll be finding color or B&W scenes to capture.  My point, at least for myself, is that I doubt if anyone would be able to know if I used my M10, or a M10 Monochrom.

I understand. Sometimes I use my Pan-Leica DMC LX 100. Im getting up there in years and find it exciting to hunt for black and white opportunities. Also, The Q2 Monochrome has an amazing number of pixels and a sensor dedicated to processing only black and white. I just think its fun and if you ask my wife.......yes, it is a selfish extravagance. Peace.

If I go out to take photographs, I know if it’s going to be a B&W day or not. Much depends on the weather.

I'm guessing that if's a sunny day, where the sun brings out the colors so much, that's when you shoot in color

.....and if it's not a bright sunny day, you're planning to shoot in b&w ?

At first I thought this was silly, but now it makes perfect sense to me.  I never thought about it that way before.
