Another view of sculptor Paul Day's "The Meeting Place", displayed on the Grand Terrace, St. Pancras Station, London.  This version with Leica Forum member JD standing next to the 9 metre high 20 tonne bronze, conveys the behemoth's scale better than the previous photos posted herein. And thank you to JD for agreeing to be included in the photo. Very few people on the Grand Terrace, Sunday evening 26 November 2023 – so did not have to wait long for a clear view.

I use St Pancras a lot and although the scale of Paul's sculpture is a thing I have never liked the work, to my eyes it's a combination of Soviet sculpture, kitsch & cheese! As ever it's all in the eye of the beholder and it's a very popular bit of sculpture with impressive scale & detail in the freeze. I prefer John Betjeman around the corner.

The brief for the commission from London & Continental Railways, the company responsible for the restoration of St. Pancras, stated: "The sculpture should be romantic, democratic and as iconic as the Statue of Liberty in New York." The controversial bronzework continues to be derided. It's a challenging piece to photograph – as is "John Betjeman around the corner." I have not yet posted any photos of the JB sculpture as not happy with my results.
