S 100mm or S 120mm?

Good morning Leica S fans,

 

Leica is offering me a demo day to try some lenses.

 

Not sure if I would ask for the S 100mm or the S 120mm. It should be used next to the S 30-90mm zoom. Mostly for portrait (60%) and travel (40%). Very very rarely for Macro.

 

Which one is your favorite and why?

Since I got the 100, I hardly use the 120.  It is smaller, faster AF, and I really like the look.  A modern version of the 75Lux.

Oeh, that is not a good think for me.

 

I never liked the 75 Lux and I sold it as soon as I bought the 75 Cron. I like sharpness and contrast.

I owned a 120CS but sold it, and now I own the 100Cron

 

Personally I prefer 100 cron, mainly for AF speed.

The sharpness of this lens is pretty acceptable... I mean good compare to any 135 system lens.

 

AF speed is important for me.

I own the 100 since Macro is not my thing. I wanted the 100 for its slightly smaller size and weight. I mostly shoot wide so this is my longest S lens.

I use both lenses extensively. The 100 is a joy and is half the size of the 120. Optical quality for both is superb... Try them both at the demonstration and see what YOU think. Simply put, you cannot go wrong...

Great advice, guys. I will test first the 120mm to check if the slower AF / higher weight puts me off. I am sure I am going to like the sharpness.

 

The 100mm will be the second test.

 

I am sure in a year, I will have bought both.
