dsedov Posted January 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Done some interesting tests today with MM246 and 760nm filter. In few words - it's quite tough to shoot it without converting the camera. I'm sure it's true for any camera, but still.. Extra sensitivity helped somewhat. Still had to go to 10000ISO to be able to shoot handheld. I did a write up with some example large images on my blog. So either a tripod or a faster than 2.0/f lens if the 10000iso grain bothers you. Any of you have stories to share about IR? Perhaps someone has converted their MM's? Welcome, dear visitor! 250swb Posted January 28, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 28, 2016 This was done with a 715 filter, I didn't want a full on IR effect, just enough to bring out the foliage in a situation where it would otherwise have been a similar tone to the stone and ground. dante Posted February 1, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2016 Using a 092 is like using an ND1000 on this camera - response really starts going off a cliff even with a visible red filter. Dante
jaapv Posted February 1, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2016 So it is back to the M8 for IR then...
dsedov Posted February 3, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted February 3, 2016 I remember something about M8 being very sensitive with IR. Is it still true, or have there been a fix like sensor replacement or something?
pop Posted February 3, 2016 Share #7 Posted February 3, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I remember something about M8 being very sensitive with IR. Is it still true, or have there been a fix like sensor replacement or something? It is still true; you have to use an IR blocking filter in front of the lens. tobey bilek Posted March 7, 2016 Share #8 Posted March 7, 2016 M8 plus B+W 092 or 093. No need to screw up a camera converting it. You will also need to establish focus correction for each lens.
