Leica Q warranty invalidated due to 'impact damage'

I don't think I saw it noted, but my Leica Q came with accidental cover for 1 year, I guess it must be only UK?


"Leica’s unique UK ‘Passport’ which provides you with 12 months’ complimentary accidental damage cover."

I picked up my repaired Q yesterday (after a couple of months at the factory), and am still perplexed that Leica initially stated that the warranty was void due to what they described as "impact damage". The damage doesn't seem that bad to me. My M9 was in far worse condition when it was repaired under warranty a while back. Given Leica's stance, it seems that we need to baby our cameras now.


I was a little surprised that the camera was returned to me by the HK distributor in a small plastic bag. A carrier bag would have been nice.
