Hi guys, just bought a T with 11-23 and 55-135, upgraded to fw 1.43 and I have noticed the when the tele is fitted I have 5 Auto Focus options instead of the standard 3 (M, AFs, AFc): the menu shows also AFs and AFc with a couple of small arrows on the sides

, as shown in the pictures. I looked on Manuals, forum, etc, with our finding what do they mean. Any idea?? Many thanks! Edited by Batman57

This was introduced with firmware 1.3 and, to my knowledge, is only documented in the firmware release notes:

Optional limited Focus range: a newly special limited AF modus for new lenses – etc. the tele photo Vario lens 55-135mm – which offers a limited focus distance range in order to speed up the Auto Focus for certain applications

From my experience, in theses modes the camera will not try to focus under around 5 ft. This both speeds up the process (far less hunting) and avoids problems when shooting through a window.

Batman, thanks for raising this and, Jean-Pierre, thanks for the explanation. I had noticed the new focus modes and had read the firmware notes but had failed to make the connection between them until you put two and two together for me.

This is a very worthwhile improvement. Focusing is now appreciably faster and more efficient with this lens.
