Advertisement Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Hi Chaipaval, Take a look here Rum, Skye & Eigg from Muck. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoskeptic Posted May 30, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 30, 2007 Assume this place gave us the word "muck"? Where in the world is it located?
azzo Posted May 30, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 30, 2007 Harry, It did catch my attention, and it is wonderful ! Like John, I would like to know where this island is. Azzo
andybarton Posted May 30, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 30, 2007 It's in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. This really comes alive with a slight levels adjustment, btw. Have you considered a panoramic crop on this one, Harry? (Hope you don't mind me playing - I'll remove it if you do)
Chaipaval Posted May 30, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted May 30, 2007 It's in the Inner Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. I will be somewhere near Bowmore (on this map) in a couple of weeks. Have you considered a panoramic crop on this one, Harry? Thanks for comments. Muck is a tiny island with only 30 or so inhabitants. It can be reached by ferry from Mallaig (40 twisty miles w of Fort William) or I think there is a ferry from Arisaig (which is unbelievably photogenic). We were given free free range eggs from a great bunch of friendly folk. Andy - best of luck with the weather - normally great in May & June. Will try a panoramic crop - probably was a bit lazy - thanks. Harry
Chuckcars Posted May 30, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 30, 2007 Could be a fine picture if only the horizon was perfectly horizontal and not in the middle of the frame. I would raist the camera or crop to put the animals at the bottom. Don't cut off too much of the left and right. Looks like a terrific place to photograph. spylaw4 Posted May 31, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 31, 2007 It's a lovely photo of a beautiful part of the world, and brings back many memories. Andy's version with the panoramic crop is excellent. However IMO the more punchy colours, while great, make it a completely differeent photo in that it loses something of the delicacy and mistiness of the W.Highland light. Somewhere in between perhaps? Thanks for those comments. Andy certainly enhanced the image with the crop and focussed attention on the areas of interest. However the quality of light was distorted and only the camera and I remember how it was. Not sure whether I should be trying to make the image more appealing or preserving what I saw. As to the distillery I think not - all supplies have to be imported and freely shared. Unless that was a subtle comment on my skills! Harry
andybarton Posted May 31, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 31, 2007 All I did was adjust the levels to spread the histogram fully.

However if you make it to Muck check the colour of the roof of the farm building and report back on your findings!
