GabrielIndalecio Posted December 19, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have one of the first Leica APO 50mm F2.0 Lens, but few months ago I noticed in the glass few spots can't be removed after trying with different options to clean or remove. Anyone have a suggestion on what caused it ? Glass is pealing ? coating materials not stable, acid ? Pictures attached. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Hi GabrielIndalecio, Take a look here APO 50mm F2.0 Glass Spots | Can't remove. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
MarkP Posted December 19, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 19, 2015 It looks like something that dried on the surface of the lens but is hard to remove. Very unlikely it's the coating but who knows. Send it back to Leica - they do provide good support especially for this lens with all the problems it's had over the years. Does yours have the flare problem well described in the earlier production models of this lens? If so you could also get this addressed by Leica. ie: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/246633-apo-50mm-summicron-flare-issue/ and my story with this lens, with a happy ending: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/246633-apo-50mm-summicron-flare-issue/?p=2875749 Regards, Mark
earleygallery Posted December 19, 2015 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2015 What 'different options' have you tried to clean it? It's not fungus and it's unlikely to be the coating, unless there's some underlying problem with this lens.

tobey bilek Posted December 20, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 20, 2015 If usual cleaners will not resolve it, I would send it in. If the defects are raised, try soaking it some. If depressed, you need professional service.
