@McLeica Posted December 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted December 2, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All I have an Epson R3000 and am thinking about switching to the Marrutt refillable cartridges to save some money. http://www.marrutt.com/epson-r3000-other/marrutt-refillable-bulk-system-for-epson-r3000.html These are the ones I have been looking at and my question is how do these compare with the K3 Ultrachrome inks for both colour and longevity? Any views or alternatives would be appreciated. Thanks
Advertisement Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Hi @McLeica, Take a look here Marrutt Refillable Cartridges. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted December 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2015 You might also consider a CIS system, I use Permajet's on my R3000: much cheaper than Epson's cartridges, and the colour appears excellent. (I have no connection to the company, and there are other CIS systems out there). l don't know how to judge longevity - I've only been using it for 3 years! @McLeica Posted December 2, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted December 2, 2015 l don't know how to judge longevity - I've only been using it for 3 years! I'm thinking colour fade as I hang my pictures around the house and some get varying levels of sunlight on them. The Ultrachrome K3 inks age very well with little or no fade or discolouration. I'll have a look at the Permajets too, thanks!
LocalHero1953 Posted December 2, 2015 Share #4 Posted December 2, 2015 Before the R3000 I used Epson dye inks and they faded dramatically around the house, within a few years. No sign of that so far with Permajet's pigment inks.
Jeff S Posted December 2, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 2, 2015 Cone (the same person/company behind b/w Piezography) also produces fantastic color inks for Epson, potentially for a lot less money (printing use and habits matter)... http://www.conecolor.com Note that Epson cartridges are really not fully drained when the machine stops for 'empty' (some studies show 10-20% left), so refillable cartridges save money there, too, not just price.
