Chaipaval Posted May 29, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was worth the climb up this hill but was the camera worth the price? Advertisement Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Hi Chaipaval, Take a look here On top of the World (with M8). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cocker Posted May 29, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2007 Harry, If it took that great photo it was worth every penny in my opinion!! (But I presume you took it in April 2007 rather than in 2006 with a pre production model!)
azzo Posted May 29, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2007 Harry, Wouldn't know if it's worth the price, but this image is really something. A lovely capture indeed. ps...Louis below, has a point there ! Azzo
biglouis Posted May 29, 2007 Share #4 Posted May 29, 2007 Great picture with fantastic delicacy and luminance. Shouldn't the lens get some of the credit? LouisB
arminw Posted May 29, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 29, 2007 Stunning picture ! Lovely how sky and sea merge together . What did you use ?
spylaw4 Posted May 30, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 30, 2007 An absolutely brilliant photograph - a large print on the wall would be breathtaking. Well done!
Chaipaval Posted May 30, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted May 30, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the comments and my apologies - it was taken April 2007 with a Summicron 1:2/35 ASPH. Latest firmware but still no filters. Yes the lens is the key but now so easy to get from lens to a good image. As a 42" print it feels I'm still on the top although the cold wind is thankfully missing. Harry
biglouis Posted May 30, 2007 Share #8 Posted May 30, 2007 Harry It would be interesting to crop out the land at the bottom of the shot and print this with the sea and sky only. That would emphasise the subtlety of the tones. LouisB
samwells Posted May 30, 2007 Share #9 Posted May 30, 2007 Harry - what a wonderful shot! Tremendous dappled luminosity to the sea, lovely subtle platinum colour palette. (I can see what Louis is saying re cropping out the rocks...not that it would be better, just different.) Thanx for sharing. cheers: Sam
Photoskeptic Posted May 30, 2007 Share #10 Posted May 30, 2007 Harry, nicely done! IMO, the rocks anchor the shot, otherwise it's just another ethereal image:rolleyes:
andybarton Posted May 30, 2007 Share #11 Posted May 30, 2007 I'm looking forward to absorbing some of this light in the next couple of weeks. Beautifully done.
hdg Posted May 30, 2007 Share #12 Posted May 30, 2007 Excellent seen and done! I am convinced the price of the camera was o.k. You need no other! Regards Hans
