Awesome shot!  How did you avoid star trails with such a long (multi) exposure?

Agreed - awesome shot.  I know this was posted a while ago but I would really like to understand the process of multiple exposures to achieve this.

Hi everyone.

I'm thinking of investing in a wide angle lens for my M10.  I have a 50mm and 90mm Summicron lenses. I also have a Leica Q with its fixed 28mm lens. I use the Q as a semi-wide angle and want something wider, which would go on the M10.  Maybe 18mm or 21mm?

Ken Rockwell likes the 21mm f3.4 ASPH Super-Elmar-M but I'm not sure it will be sufficiently different in terms of angle of view from the 28mm on the Q.

He also likes the Leica Super-Elmar-M 18mm f/3.8 ASPH.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You should look at the angle not at the millimeters. A 21mm focal length already is a large step, coming from 28mm. Not comparable with the step from 35 to 28mm.

Perhaps it is (later on) important, if you can install filters on the lens. Cylindrical screw-ins and/or rectangular put-ons.

A lot of people have sawed off the lens hoods from their (Voigtländer) wide angle lenses, to install filters.

Hi,

They don't compare.

I have a Cron 28mm F/2 and the 21 SE. Love them both but for different reasons.

The 28 has fantastic Bokeh at full aperture and no distorsion at all. It's the lens I bought with my M240 as I choose not to buy a 50. I actually bought one later on (a Cron f/2) but replaced it with a 40mm F/1.2 Voigtlander, larger angle but with SO MUCH Bokeh!

I use the 21 SE a lot but it has more distorsion than the 28, especially at an angle. Excellent lens though, very precise.

I also use sometimes Voigtlander 15 (so small a lens I always carry it with me just in case) and a Voigtlander 12 (love this one but have to keep it for special occasion e.g. Times Square on a sunny day or sometimes in Paris)

Oh I also had a 18 SE at some point but got rid of it as I prefer the 21SE.

Stunning.  The depth of field is amazing and the colors and shadows are perfect.
