3rd party lens performance on SL

Recently acquired a c.1971 vintage Canon FD 35/2 s.s.c lens with the concave front glass element and internal thorium glass element … hence has an amber tint which requires neutralising before using for colour images with my SL 601 and Leica T. The usual method to neutralise the amber tint is to leave the lens on a window sill for a few weeks whence the Sun's UV light component will do the trick. However, online research suggests that IKEA JANSJO LED lamps will neutralise the amber tint in a few days. I already have several Jansjo lamps used for photomacrography illumination - hence set up two as in the photo. If they clear the tint hope to use the lens this weekend; it's allegedly the best of all the various Canon FD 35mm lenses produced.

After 2 days under the JANSJO lamps (see #501) no discernible difference was seen in the Canon FD 35/2 'Concave' lens' amber tint … so on Sunday 28 April it was used 'as is' on the SL to photograph arrivals at The 2019 Stilton Cheese Classic Car Run … but with a custom white balance. Cars arrive throughout the day during the charity event, the destination being The Bell Inn, Stilton near Peterborough UK. One of the cars spotted as it turned into North St. Stilton (the old Great North Road) was a very scarce 1973 SAAB Sonnet III powered by a Ford 1700cc V4. The body is fibreglass but the steel parts rust. A total of 8368 Sonnet III cars were manufactured before production ceased in 1974 due to disappointing sales. Top speed was 102mph with a 13 seconds 0-62mph time.

Does the Minolta Rokkor 40/2 qualify as a third-party lens? The optical design is identical to the Summicron 40/2 with perhaps a difference in coating. Leica and Minolta agreed to share the design (done by whom?). Processed in Raw Therapee and Picture Window Pro.
