pop Posted November 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) My Mac has started to pop up a window called "Photo" whenever I insert an SD card with photographs. Is there any way of preventing that thing from doing that?

Bill Livingston Posted November 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) This irritated me, too. Try this... http://osxdaily.com/2015/05/31/stop-photos-opening-automatically-mac-os-x/ Works for me... pop Posted November 17, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted November 17, 2015 Thank you so much! That did it. I was thinking about removing Mac OS from my PC and sloth only kept me from doing so. That thing is growing worse and worse, I think.
Bill Livingston Posted November 17, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 17, 2015 I agree... It used to be SO different from Microsoft, really intuitive and lovely to use. It's now looking more and more like it... as Microsoft tries to get more and more like Apple. It seems it's becoming more and more ponderous and seems to be catering to the lowest common denominator. The downside of Apple becoming more mainstream I'm afraid... I liked it when it was cool and different... Or should that be 'indifferent'... No pandering to the masses and absolutely a joy to use.
tobey bilek Posted December 28, 2015 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2015 They keep turning Mac into a toy and they are screwing it up little by little. I keep getting notices El Capitan is ready, then I wonder what will no longer work. PS CC has new junk every week. Do I need any of it? Absolutely not ! MarkP Posted December 29, 2015 Share #6 Posted December 29, 2015 Bill, thanks for that - it was really pissing me off! Toby, I agree with the visual candy-coloured toy-like appearance of the newer Mac OS I am not game to upgrade to El Capitan as almost everything is currently working and on my MacPro I have no complaints with processing speed (see below) and I was very happy with Adobe CC until about two months ago when I could no longer update any programs. The updates would just stop before it completed. I gave Adobe technicians access to my computer twice and sat around for for waiting hours but they still couldn't fix it. I planed to try again with the next OS upgrade (see above) ...Catch

I got round it by updating in Safe Mode and logged in as Administrator. Ludicrous, I know, but it worked. The problem went away when I upgraded to Windows 10. Not sure if you have an equivalent option in OS. Edited December 29, 2015 by LocalHero1953
Exodies Posted December 29, 2015 Share #8 Posted December 29, 2015 Happend to me a couple of updates ago. The solution was to uninstall the Adobe desktop app (the thing that sits in the menu bar near the clock), download it and reinstall it.

tobey bilek Posted February 2, 2016 Share #11 Posted February 2, 2016 Apple keeps messing with the OS which was quite professional. It now has all kinds of features that turn it into a toy for amateurs and make it difficult to use. I love my Mac Pro with 4 drives and Eiso screen. I would buy the new pro because it is really cool, but it will not even burn a CD, I can not add memory, and I am sure it can not be repaired cost effectively. A $4000 throw away computer. GIME a break.
